PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ipad Apple (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muhammad Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Apple throws a hook but Ali blocks it.

Apple gets tackled into the cage by Ali. Ali maintains the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Ali's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Apple drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ali stops a takedown attempt from Apple.

Ali drags the fight down to the ground.
Ali wants to get back to his feet but Apple is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ali trying to keep a closed guard but Apple is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Apple looking to sit in guard and control but Ali gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Apple is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ali defends well.

Ali is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Apple lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Apple looks for a takedown but Ali sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ipad Apple. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Apple stuffs the takedown attempt from Ali. Ali gets slowly back to his feet.
Ali blocks a head kick by Apple.

Ali throws a right and a left that Apple avoids nicely.
Ali is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ali goes for a double leg but Apple avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Apple continues to drive forward.
Ali is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Apple is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Ali has Apple pressed against the cage, preventing Apple from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Ali manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Apple throws a sloppy head kick and Ali moves out of range easily.

Apple is trying to force a seperation but Ali has the dominant position.

Apple jumps guard but Ali turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ali wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ali on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Apple counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Ali moves in looking to clinch but Apple pushes him off.
Both fighters circling a little - Apple finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Ali is breathing heavily.
Apple circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ali tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Apple swivels and escapes.
Ali throws a hook to the side of Apple's head but Apple sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ali shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Apple pinned against the cage. Apple gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Apple tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ali swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ali keeps the fight on the outside.
Apple fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Apple tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Apple is defended easily by Ali.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ali looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ali tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Apple manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Ali counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ali shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Apple as he avoids it easily.
Apple throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ali.
Ipad Apple is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Apple throws a head kick but Ali moves out of range.

Ali ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ipad Apple is winning the standup battle so far.
The fighters circle momentarily. Apple darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Ali scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Apple lands a lovely overhand right.

Ipad Apple dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Apple keeps Ali at a distance using the push kick.
Apple throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Ali stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ali wants it to stay on the feet.
Apple feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Alis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Ali closes the distance and clinches.
Ali has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Apple.
Apple jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ali walks away with a smile on his face. Apple gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ali shoots in looking for a takedown but Apple manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ali's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Apple thows a body kick. Ali tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Apple fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ali looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ali tries to close the distance and clinch up but Apple swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ali takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Apple throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Ali is rocked!

Apple lands a huge takedown. Ali is out but the ref is slow to react and Apple lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Ali lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
