Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Hammer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hussak Claw! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammer tries for a takedown but Claw circles away easily and Claw counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hammer won't be happy with that. Claw working the ground and pound but Hammer is defending the strikes. Hammer manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Claw is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hammer has managed to free his arm - good work. Hammer tries to roll over but Claw keeps him under control. Claw is working for a submission of some sort.
Hammer won't allow Claw to pass to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hammer misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Claw is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Claw wants to work for an arm triangle but Hammer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammer trying to hold on to Claw's head to control him but Claw postures up.
Claw is pressing down on Hammer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hammer is holding on for now. Hammer is trying to control but can't.
Hammer gets full guard. Hammer working a defensive guard here.
Hammer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Claw avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hammer wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Claw postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hammer looking for a sweep. Not yet Hammer, not yet. Hammer looking for a guillotine here but Claw defends easily.
Claw works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Claw is working for an americana but Hammer has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Claw was thinking about the submission. Hammer is looking to cinch up a triangle. Claw throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hammer's body to avoid the submission. Hammer has instead reached around Claw's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hammer arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Frank Hammer! A very excited looking Frank Hammer made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
