Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pat Pong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mr Ward struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Pat Pong had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pat Pong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mr Ward! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pong throws a quick inside leg kick. Pong pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ward avoids the head kick by Pong.
Pong scores with a head kick.
Pong lands a high kick to the side of Ward's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Pong dives into guard, looking to finish.
Ward is rocked!
It looks like Mr Ward has been cut. Ward working for a triangle but Pong defends it easily.
Ward is still in real trouble! Can Pong finish him? Ward looks gassed! Pong wants to get up but he can't break Ward's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ward is looking for a triangle but Pong pushes his legs off easily.
Ward seems to have recovered his senses. Pong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ward on the ground. Pong looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Pong trying to control but Ward is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pong sitting in guard, not really doing much. Pong tries to stand but Ward is controlling from the bottom. Pong trying to control but Ward is working from the bottom. Ward wants to sweep here but Pong controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pong accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pong trying to control but Ward is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A head kick from Pong lands but Ward takes it in his stride.

Pat Pong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pong shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Ward avoids the head kick by Pong.
Pong throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ward's head. Good work by Ward as he checks the leg kick. Ward drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Pong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ward wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pong, who protects the arm well. Pong stops Ward from passing to mount. Pong is looking for a sweep. Ward advances to mount. Ward looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ward wants to finish this one by submission but Pong is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ward.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ward is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pong can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ward goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pong turns into him and now he's in Ward's guard.
Pong wants to pass the guard but Ward is keeping the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ward has a closed guard, preventing Pong from standing up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Pat Pong will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Mr Ward's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ward shoots for a double leg takedown but Pong sprawls well. He's pushed Ward's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Pong goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Pong lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Pong lands with a kick to the temple. Ward shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Pong tries for a takedown but Ward circles away easily and Ward counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Ward looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Pong tries to roll over but Ward keeps him under control. Ward has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Pong defend it? Ward steps over the head and cranks it - Pong is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Ward!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mr Ward!
