PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kacper Kowalik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kowalik is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Metallica- Turn the page. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kacper Kowalik!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalik avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kowalik throws a low kick, looking for Bravo's leg but Bravo calmly moves out of range.

Bravo drives through with a takedown into Kowalik's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Kowalik is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bravo is aware though and is defending well.

Our spies down at at Mano`s Elite BJJ Gym inform us that Kowalik has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Kowalik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bravo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bravo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bravo is fighting to break Kowalik's control of his arms but Kowalik is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Kowalik has his foot on Bravo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bravo works his way back into a safe position though.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bravo's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Kowalik escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bravo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kowalik wants to sweep here but Bravo controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kowalik is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've been hearing good reports from Bravo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Bravo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kowalik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bravo has managed to get both his arms back between Kowalik's legs - danger averted.
Bravo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Bravo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bravo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bravo looking to sit in guard and control but Kowalik gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Kowalik lands a couple of elbows.
Kowalik throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bravo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Kowalik throws a hook to the side of Bravo's head but Bravo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A jab from Kowalik finds it's way through Bravo's defenses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kowalik shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kowalik was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kowalik has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
You can see the frustration on Bravo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kowalik has gone for a leg lock! Bravo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kowalik's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kacper Kowalik comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kowalik has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
