Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Senna! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Duquesnoy! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Senna shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Duquesnoy counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Senna is defending against the submission attempts here by Duquesnoy.
Duquesnoy trying to mount his opponent but Senna defends it. Duquesnoy performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Senna looking for submissions off his back. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Senna wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duquesnoy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Senna knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Senna looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Duquesnoy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Duquesnoy wants to control but Senna is keeping him busy. Senna avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Duquesnoy. Senna is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Senna is working hard here to advance position. Senna wants to control but Duquesnoy is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Senna is pressing down on Duquesnoy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Duquesnoy tries to free his leg and advance position but Senna is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Senna throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Duquesnoy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Senna. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Duquesnoy trying to control the position from guard on top but Senna is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Duquesnoy drops back looking for a leg! Senna is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Senna manages to kick Duquesnoy off! Duquesnoy jumps back into Senna's guard. Senna is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Senna is looking to cinch up a triangle. Duquesnoy throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Senna's body to avoid the submission. Senna has instead reached around Duquesnoy's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Senna arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Carlos Senna! In defeat, Tom Duquesnoy stepped up to the mic, saying 'Losing my debut is hard, but I'll get back in the gym and work to correct my mistakes.'.
