Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kesigan Lawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Maldonado!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldonado darts in looking for a takedown but Lawler gets double underhooks and turns Maldonado into the cage.
Maldonado is trying to pull guard but Lawler has him pressed against the cage.
Lawler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Maldonado fails with the takedown
and Lawler moves into the clinch.
Kesigan Lawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabio Maldonado.
Lawler jumps into guard, dragging Maldonado to the mat.

Lawler lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Maldonado has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lawler can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lawler is pushing down on Maldonado's leg trying to pass to half guard. Maldonado is fighting to maintain full guard but Lawler has managed to sneak the leg through.

Maldonado throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Maldonado shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lawler sprawls well. Lawler wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maldonado gets slowly back to his feet.
Maldonado tries to clinch but Lawler moves out of range.

Lawler is trying to trip Maldonado. He has hold of a leg but Maldonado is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Lawler persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Lawler is trying to get an arm triangle but Maldonado is defending well.

Lawler decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Maldonado tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lawler swivels and escapes.
Lawler shoots in and gets a takedown into Maldonado's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lawler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maldonado as he avoids it easily.
Lawler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maldonado is fending him off so far but Lawler persists. Nope, Maldonado circles away and we're back to standing.
Maldonado fails with the takedown.
Lawler manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Maldonado on his heels. He'll look to pass Maldonado's guard now, I'm sure.
Lawler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maldonado can do to turn this around?

Lawler is taking a breather. Maldonado says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Lawler moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Maldonado.

Lawler lands a couple of good shots and Maldonado has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Maldonado is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lawler gets his way!
Lawler lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Lawler.

Maldonado is looking to escape but he's done so without protecting himself and Lawler manages to counter with a nice rear naked choke! Maldonado is in trouble and he's forced to tap!
