PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stan Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiri Brodski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brodski has chosen Cold Blue Coma- Downset as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stan Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jiri Brodski!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brodski shoots for a takedown but Marsh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Brodski feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Marsh's calf.
Nice defenses there by Marsh.
Brodski uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Marsh.
Brodski shoots in but no luck this time.
Marsh punishes Brodski's body with a nice straight punch.
Marsh slips under a jab from Brodski.
Marsh walks into a left hand.
Brodski takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Brodski misses with a low kick.
Marsh throws a predictable looking body shot
and Brodski counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Brodski moves in looking to clinch but Marsh pushes him off.
Brodski throws a nice head kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brodski ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Brodski misses with a straight left.
Brodski shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brodski lands with a good body shot.
Brodski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Marsh sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Brodski misses with a low kick.
Brodski avoids the body shot from Marsh.
Marsh looks for the body kick but Brodski saw that one coming.

Marsh tries to keep at a distance but Brodski has taken the fight into the clinch.
Brodski has a couple of punches blocked by Marsh.

Marsh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Brodski connects with a jab.

Brodski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Marsh tries to get to full guard but Brodski has control of the leg.
Brodski thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marsh's head.
Brodski is trying to control the action in half guard but Marsh is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Brodski is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marsh doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Brodski.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Brodski working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marsh holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Marsh's coaches at GTi 888 have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Brodski looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marsh with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Marsh wants to get back to full guard.
Marsh taking some punishment here, with Brodski in his half guard.
Brodski winds up and cracks Marsh with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brodski is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Brodski is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Brodski looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brodski thows a huge punch but Marsh dodges it nicely.
Marsh trying to control here.
Marsh regains full guard. Nicely done.
Marsh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Marsh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brodski throws a strike but Marsh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Brodski is trying to control the position but Marsh postures up.
Marsh wants to control from the top but Brodski keeps moving.
Marsh throws a big right hand that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brodski is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Brodski trying to strike off his back.
Marsh pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brodski is keeping the position for now.
Marsh stopping the sweep attempt from Brodski.

Brodski looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Marsh is defending well. Brodski quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Marsh has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Brodski celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jiri Brodski!
Jiri Brodski decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
