Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karl Denke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sepp Maier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Denke comes to the cage accompanied by Runnin With The Devil. Maier has chosen Apaga mas não bate as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
37 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karl Denke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
42 - 31 - 1, fighting out of London, Sepp Maier! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Denke as he avoids it easily. Maier has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Denke is landing a low percentage of strikes. Maier is looking to clinch. Maier throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Denke on the side of the head. Maier takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Maier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Denke as he avoids it easily. The crowd cheers as Denke lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maier doesn't seem phased though. Maier looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Denke is fending him off so far but Maier persists. Nope, Denke circles away and we're back to standing. Karl Denke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sepp Maier. Maier fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Denke lands with a good body shot. Maier takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Maier shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Denke jabs at Maier's body. Denke lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maier tries to sprawl but Denke drives through with a takedown into half guard. Denke is working for a submission of some sort.
Maier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Denke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Maier defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Denke is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Maier manages to get to full guard. Denke passes Maier's left leg - he's now in half guard. Denke is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Maier is bucking up trying to escape but Denke cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Denke lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Maier is trying desperately to improve position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maier swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maier is wriggling around trying to escape.
Maier bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Maier is in close to Denke's body, working some short punches and elbows. Maier loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Denke has his foot on Maier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maier works his way back into a safe position though. Maier wants to pass the guard but Denke is keeping the position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Maier with a flurry of punches that miss. Maier has gone for a leg lock! Denke slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maier's guard. Denke is looking to work some ground and pound but Maier has wrist control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maier working for a triangle but Denke defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maier keeping moving, preventing Denke from controlling successfully. Maier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Denke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Denke looking to pass the guard. Denke trying to control but Maier is working from the bottom. Denke connects with a couple of short punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Denke missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Maier had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Denke defends it easily. Maier striking off his back but it's not causing Denke any problems. Denke is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Maier has his foot on Denke's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Denke works his way back into a safe position though. Denke trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Denke trying to control the position from guard on top but Maier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Denke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maier moves away. Maier staying out of range there. Maier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Denke's waist but Denke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maier off to one side. Denke is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Maier can do to turn this around? Denke throws a hook but Maier blocks it. Maier takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Denke stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Maier walks forward, straight into a front kick from Denke. Maier is looking to clinch but Denke is avoiding it.
Maier fails with the takedown. Denke tries to clinch up but Maier circles away and keeps his distance. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Maier shoots in but Denke avoids the takedown attempt easily. Karl Denke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sepp Maier. Maier doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Denke stuffs the takedown. Denke with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Sepp Maier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Maier shoots for a takedown but Denke saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A nice inside leg kick there by Denke. That's going to slow Maier down. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A shot to the liver by Denke. Beautiful body shot. The fight stays on the outside here - Maier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maier takes a body punch but keeps moving. Denke lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Denke fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Maier looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Maier shoots in but no luck this time. Maier is breathing heavily. Maier on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Maier on the wrong end of a nice jab. Denke gets a double leg takedown into Maier's guard. Maier has his foot on Denke's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Denke works his way back into a safe position though. Denke stands up over Maier, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Denke tries to free his leg and advance position but Maier is retaining full guard. Denke stands and throws Maier's legs to the side, diving into side control. Denke in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maier is letting Denke control him for a moment. Denke cracks Maier with an elbow. That is naaassty. Denke passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Maier! Maier is squirming around, avoiding Denke's attempts to control the action. Denke looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Maier is squirming around, avoiding Denke's attempts to control the action. Maier is working to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maier gets back to half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Denke connects with a nice short shot to Maier's temple. Denke stands up from half guard. Denke displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maier. It looks like Denke has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Maier takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Maier shoots in looking for a takedown. Denke tries to sprawl out of it but Maier keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Denke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Maier shoots in for a takedown but Denke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Denke lands a nice looking body shot.
Maier tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Denke throws a nice outside leg kick. Denke throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Maier tries to clinch but Denke is having none of it. Denke turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maier takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maier keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Denke changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maier looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Denke in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Denke remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Denke thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Maier tries to improve position but can't. Denke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maier keeps working. Denke scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Maier to see if he's OK. Maier is looking for a sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karl Denke dominated that second round. That's time! Denke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Maier takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Maier shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Denke sprawls well. Denke wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maier gets slowly back to his feet. Denke leaves Maier with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Denke connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Denke is looking to wear down Maier with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Maier drives through and clinches with Denke against the cage.
Maier tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Maier's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Denke tries to throw a body punch but Maier avoids it by throwing Denke back against the cage. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Maier obliges. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Denke. Maier misses with a knee strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Denke digs a right hand into Maier's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Maier's gas tank. A hook to the body from Denke.

Denke tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Maier's elbow. Maier takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Denke stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Denke misses with a punch to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maier tries a knee to the head but Denke blocks it.
Denke is trying to maintain a safe position but Maier gets an underhook and turns Denke into the cage. A right handed body shot lands from Denke.
Denke lands a nice shot to the body. A short body shot lands from Denke as the two fighters clinch.
Denke throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Maiers head. Denke lands a body shot in the clinch.
Denke tries to work over Maier's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Maier using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Denke has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Denke working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Maier prevents a body shot from Denke. Denke works on Maier's body with a couple of short punches. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Denke obliges. Denke lands a shot to the body. Denke trying to land knees to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A battle for position here, against the cage. Denke has Maier pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Denke pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Maier tumbling to the mat - Denke dives into Maier's guard. Denke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Denke trying to control the position from guard on top but Maier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Maier throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Denke has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Maier is proving hard to escape from. Maier throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Denke slips nicely into half guard. Denke has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Denke controlling the position easily from mount. Denke lands a couple of good shots and Maier has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maier manages to reverse the position and now he's in Denke's guard. Nice work there by Maier.
Maier throws a strike but Denke rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Denke in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sepp Maier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Maier wants to sweep but no luck. Maier avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Denke stays in close to Maier's body and controls the position. Denke wants to control from the top but Maier keeps moving. Denke pushes down on Maier's leg and manages to get into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Karl Denke showed his dominance in that final round. Well Denke has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
