Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Denver Carson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Barbosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Denver Carson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Denver Carson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Renato Barbosa! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Barbosa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Carson swivels and escapes. Barbosa fails to land with a series of punches.
Carson moves out of range of the body kick. Carson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barbosa.
Nice takedown defense from Carson. No joy for Barbosa on that attempt. Barbosa shoots and misses and Carson counters with a flying knee. Nice. Denver Carson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renato Barbosa. Barbosa misses with a leg kick and Carson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Carson throwing strikes from guard but Barbosa blocks nicely. Carson wants to get up but he can't break Barbosa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Carson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Carson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carson wants to stand but Barbosa is controlling his posture from full guard. Carson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Barbosa shoots in and drives through. Carson sprawls well. Barbosa looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carson is fending him off so far but Barbosa persists. Nope, Carson circles away and we're back to standing. Barbosa looks winded! Barbosa blocks a head kick by Carson.
Carson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Carson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barbosa closes the distance and clinches up with Carson, looking for a takedown. Barbosa pushes Carson against the cage but Carson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A leg kick checked by Carson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carson has closed the distance and engaged Barbosa in a clinch.
Barbosa has Carson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Carson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Barbosa uses from the top position. Carson wants to sweep here but Barbosa controlling him for the moment. Barbosa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barbosa won't allow Carson to sweep him here. Carson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barbosa manages to get himself to full guard.
Carson wants to stand but Barbosa is controlling his posture from full guard. Carson is looking to work some ground and pound but Barbosa has wrist control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carson throws a strike but Barbosa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Carson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barbosa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Barbosa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Carson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Barbosa's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Barbosa performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Barbosa passes to full mount! Carson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barbosa on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barbosa sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Carson tries to get back to half guard but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barbosa looking to control and managing it successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Denver Carson dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Barbosa thows a leg kick but Carson checks it and Carson counters with a head kick. Carson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barbosa. Barbosa fails with the takedown. Carson avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Barbosa looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Carson! Renato Barbosa has got the better of the ground game so far. Barbosa wants to control but Carson is keeping him busy. Carson prevents Barbosa from moving into mount. My spies in Weed Nation inform me that Barbosa has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carson is not content to let Barbosa control the position. Carson tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carson seems a little lost for a moment, as Barbosa dominates the positioning. Barbosa is breathing heavily. Barbosa trying to control the position but Carson is working away. Carson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barbosa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Carson is being controlled here. Carson is trying to get back to half guard. The referee asks Barbosa politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Barbosa prefers to stall for the moment though. Barbosa advances to mount. Carson wants to hold on but Barbosa pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barbosa moves to the back. Barbosa controls the action. Carson tries to break free.
Carson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Carson is in bad spot here.
Barbosa just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Barbosa is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Carson. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbosa has the hooks in. Carson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
