Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ayo Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Zapata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zapata lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Edgar circles away quickly and effectively.
Edgar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Zapata.
Zapata has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Edgar is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Zapata fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Edgar to the ground. Zapata is now in Edgar's guard.

Edgar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zapata's guard.

Edgar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zapata can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
We've been told by Edgar's head coaches at Weed Nation that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Zapata fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Zapata looks for a takedown but Edgar sprawls well.
Ayo Edgar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eduardo Zapata.

Edgar slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Zapata shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Edgar but Edgar pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Zapata will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Zapata feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Edgar is looking to stand up but Zapata isn't so interested in that idea.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Edgar connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Zapata dives in and grabs Edgar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Edgar pushes down on Zapata's head and hops out.
Edgar lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Edgar misses with a two punch combination.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Edgar, as that shot connected.
