The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kendall looks for a takedown but Sims sprawls well.
A solid leg kick lands there for Sims.
Sims throws a right and a left that Kendall avoids nicely.
Sims misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kendall shoots in and drives through. Sims sprawls well.
Kendall wants to clinch up but Sims keeps it at a distance.
Sims with a poor takedown
and Kendall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sims's guard.
Sims had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kendall is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sims Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kendall's back instead.
Sims really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kendall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sims is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kendall knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kendall for a finish.
Sims is persistently looking for the submission but Kendall is defending it well.

Sims shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kendall counters with a shoot takedown. Sims fights it but they end up in guard.
Jesse Kendall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Sims.
Kendall pushes down on Sims's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sims pushes Kendall off looking to stand but Kendall dives back in and keeps control.

Sims has his foot on Kendall's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kendall works his way back into a safe position though.
Sims is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sims looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Kendall is defending well. Sims quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Kendall has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Sims celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
