Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Asa Mccormick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Hagewasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Asa Mccormick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Max Hagewasa!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hagewasa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mccormick throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Mccormick wants to sweep but no luck.
Hagewasa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Mccormick wants to stand but Hagewasa is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hagewasa throws an elbow that misses. Mccormick uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hagewasa's guard. Nice move by Mccormick!

Mccormick won't allow Hagewasa to sweep him here.

Mccormick wants to get up but he can't break Hagewasa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mccormick seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hagewasa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hagewasa moves in looking to clinch but Mccormick pushes him off.

Hagewasa shoots in but Mccormick avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Mccormick fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mccormick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hagewasa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hagewasa is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mccormick to keep the fight standing.
Hagewasa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mccormick is defending well for now.
Hagewasa is trying to drag Mccormick to the mat but Mccormick just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hagewasa drags the fight down to the ground.
Hagewasa wants to stand up but Mccormick is controlling him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mccormick tries to close the distance and clinch but Hagewasa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hagewasa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Max Hagewasa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mccormick shoots in but no luck this time.
Mccormick shoots in looking for a takedown but Hagewasa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mccormick's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Max Hagewasa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Horrible takedown attempt by Hagewasa or perhaps it was just good defense by Mccormick, which made it look bad.

Mccormick is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hagewasa will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hagewasa is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The ground and pound from Mccormick seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Mccormick connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hagewasa some visible discomfort.
Mccormick gets to mount! Hagewasa was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Hagewasa tries to reverse the position but Mccormick maintains control.

Mccormick cracks Hagewasa with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The referee warns Hagewasa that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Mccormick lands a big shot there that rocks Hagewasa but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Hagewasa tries to lock up and control but Mccormick gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's time! Mccormick's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Mccormick lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mccormick slaps away a takedown attempt from Hagewasa, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Mccormick holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hagewasa is trying to maintain a safe position but Mccormick gets an underhook and turns Hagewasa into the cage.

Asa Mccormick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Hagewasa.
Hagewasa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hagewasa is trying to pull guard but Mccormick turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Mccormick is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hagewasa can do to turn this around?

A frustrated look appears on Mccormick's face as he tries to break the clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mccormick takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Mccormick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hagewasa paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Max Hagewasa seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Hagewasa throws a head kick that misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mccormick fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hagewasa tries to clinch up but Mccormick circles away and keeps his distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Asa Mccormick.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mccormick, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
