Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paso Leati (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffery Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leati kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Babylon 5. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leati shoots in but no luck this time.
Maynard is looking to clinch but Leati is avoiding it.
Maynard moves into the clinch successfully.
Leati is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Maynard to keep the fight standing.
Maynard lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Leati backwards.
Leati is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paso Leati. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maynard lands with a left to the head.
Leati blocks an uppercut.
Maynard tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Leati ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Leati no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Maynard wants to pass the guard but Leati is keeping the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maynard stands up over Leati, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Maynard with a flurry of punches that miss.
Maynard throws an elbow that misses. Leati uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Maynard 's guard. Nice move by Leati!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maynard wants to sweep but no luck.
Leati looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Maynard preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Maynard trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Leati throwing strikes but missing.
Leati throws a big elbow that misses.
Leati is looking to work some ground and pound but Maynard has wrist control.
Leati is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Leati postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Leati trying to control the position from guard on top but Maynard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
No luck for Leati with that takedown attempt.
Leati changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maynard tries to avoid it but Leati manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maynard to the ground. Maynard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Maynard fails with an attempt to clinch.
Maynard has closed the distance and engaged Leati in a clinch.
Maynard lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Leati's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Leati is working for takedown but Maynard is calmly controlling the position for now.
Maynard lands a right hand that snaps the head of Leati backwards.
A body shot lands from Maynard .
Leati is breathing heavily.
Maynard pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Maynard darts in and clinches Leati up against the cage.
Maynard scores with a shot to the side of Leati's head.
Maynard makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Maynard fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Maynard softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Leati is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Leati blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Oh Leati is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maynard swings wildly with an uppercut but Leati uses good head movement to avoid it.
Leati seems to have got his legs back now.
Maynard throws a big uppercut that drops Leati! More strikes from Maynard and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Leati lies dazed against the cage as Maynard celebrates with his cornermen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeffery Maynard !
