Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephan Walter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francois Permitis! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walter moves into the clinch. Walter is looking to control Permitis's arms but Permitis gets an underhook and turns him. Now Walter has his back to the ropes. Permitis has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Walter after a bit of a struggle. Walter prevents a takedown attempt there.
Walter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Walter throws the kick towards the body but Permitis avoids it. Walter jabs Permitis right on the nose. Permitis blinks but takes it well.
It looks like Francois Permitis has been cut. Permitis closes the distance and clinches up with Walter, looking for a takedown. Permitis pushes Walter against the ropes but Walter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Stephan Walter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Francois Permitis. Walter tries to clinch there but Permitis circles away.
Walter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No joy there for Walter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Permitis takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Walter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Permitis paws at him with a jab and circles away. Walter fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walter tries to clinch but Permitis moves away and Permitis counters with a single leg into guard. Walter didn't expect that. Walter is looking to stand up but Permitis isn't so interested in that idea. Permitis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Walter wants to stand and escape but Permitis is having none of it. Walter has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the ropes to get back to his feet. Permitis has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the ropes. Walter breaks from the clinch.
Permitis uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Walter. Good shot there by Permitis.
It looks like Stephan Walter has been cut. Walter tries to close the distance and clinch but Permitis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Permitis takes a shot right to the bread basket. Walter moves into the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Walter manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walter is looking to clinch. Walter connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Walter tries to clinch but Permitis moves away and Permitis counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Permitis throwing shots but Walter is blocking nicely. Walter is trying to stand.

Permitis moves nicely into side control. Walter is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Permitis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Walter has escaped the position, nice work there. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Walter wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Walter dodges the ground and pound from Permitis. Walter wants to get back to his feet but Permitis drags him back down. Permitis tries to move into full mount but can't pass Walter's legs. Permitis in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Walter wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Walter is looking to clinch but Permitis is avoiding it.
Permitis has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Stephan Walter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Walter falls off balance throwing a combination
and Permitis counters by moving into the clinch. Walter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Stephan Walter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Walter tries to close the distance and clinch but Permitis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Walter lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Walter. Walter tries a head kick but it misses.

That has opened up Francois Permitis's cut even more. Walter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Permitis circles away quickly and effectively. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stephan Walter dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Permitis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Walter is pushing Permitis's head away, looking to escape. Permitis manages to hold on to the position though. Permitis tries to move into full mount but can't pass Walter's legs. Permitis prevents Walter from escaping the position. Permitis trying to control the position but Walter is working away. Walter pushes Permitis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Permitis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Permitis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Permitis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Walter has escaped the position, nice work there. Walter is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Permitis has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Walter throws Permitis to one side and escapes! Walter wants to clinch. Walter throws the kick towards the body but Permitis avoids it. Walter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Permitis paws at him with a jab and circles away. Walter clinches. Walter tries a knee to the head but Permitis blocks it.
Walter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Permitis moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walter moves in looking to clinch but Permitis pushes him off. Walter throws a series of punches but Permitis moves out of range. Walter tries to clinch and Permitis counters with a nice double leg into guard. Walter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Permitis works over Walter with some ground and pound from guard. Permitis tries to free his leg and advance position but Walter is retaining full guard. Permitis is looking to work some ground and pound but Walter has wrist control. Walter scrambles and gets back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Walter looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Permitis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Permitis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Walter tries to escape but Permitis is in control. Permitis tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Permitis prevents Walter from escaping the position. Permitis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Walter knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Permitis swings around for an armbar but Walter sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Permitis's guard. Walter trying to stand up but can't free himself from Permitis's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Francois Permitis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Permitis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Permitis chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Walter can pounce on him.
Walter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Walter tries to clinch but fails miserably and Permitis counters by moving into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walter doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Walter wants to clinch and Permitis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Permitis. Walter has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Permitis is pushing him up against the ropes, looking to control the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Walter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Walter ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Walter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Walter connects with a body shot. Permitis misses with a takedown attempt - Walter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Permitis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Permitis takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Walter lands with an uppercut that bounces Permitis off the ropes and back into range. Walter tries to land a front kick but Permitis steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A nice combination there by Walter.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Walter darts in trying to clinch and Permitis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Permitis.
