Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elias Robles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jax Martin! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Watson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robles takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Martin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Robles. Martin throws a series of punches but Robles moves out of range. Martin misses with a takedown attempt and Robles counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Robles slows down the pace here.
Robles jumps guard.
Martin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Robles manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Martin has Robles in his guard.
Robles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Martin on the ground. Robles missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Robles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Robles with a flurry of punches that miss. Martin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Robles gets to his feet - Martin follows without any prompting. Sloppy strikes from Martin. Those never looked like landing. Martin shoots in looking for a takedown but Robles manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Martin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Robles takes a swing at Martin's ribcage but misses. Martin cracks Robles with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Robles shoots in and gets a takedown into Martin's guard. Martin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Robles's guard. Robles keeping moving, preventing Martin from controlling successfully. Martin passes Robles's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Robles blocking the ground and pound attempt from Martin. Martin maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Robles could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Martin has cracked it and Robles is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Martin!
