Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Gael Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzales kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Crazy. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricardo Gonzales! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dante Gael Roman! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales throws a jab but it's blocked by Roman. Roman gets tackled into the cage by Gonzales. Gonzales maintains the clinch. Gonzales pushes Roman back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Roman's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Roman lands with a short head shot on the inside. Gonzales lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Dante Gael Roman has been cut. Our sources have told us that Gonzales has been working on his elbows in the gym. Gonzales using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Roman has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Gonzales drags the fight down to the ground.
Roman sitting in guard here, content to control. Roman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gonzales. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gonzales wants to stand but Roman is controlling the position. Roman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gonzales has his foot on Roman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Roman works his way back into a safe position though. Roman drops back looking for a leg! Gonzales is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gonzales manages to kick Roman off! Roman jumps back into Gonzales's guard. Roman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Gonzales looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
That's one minute gone in the round. Roman throws a big elbow that misses. Roman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gonzales working a defensive guard here.
Roman lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Roman trying to control but Gonzales is working from the bottom. Gonzales wants to get back to his feet but Roman is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Gonzales throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gonzales is keeping the position for now. Gonzales manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Roman manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gonzales wants to stand and escape but instead Roman has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gonzales has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Roman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gonzales. Roman cracks Gonzales with a big elbow. Gonzales striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Gonzales can't do much from the bottom here. Roman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Gonzales gets back to half guard. Gonzales has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Roman is working away from the top position though. Gonzales has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Roman is on him like a limpet, forcing Gonzales back against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gonzales throws a punch but it's blocked by Roman. Gonzales has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Roman clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Gonzales has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzales controlling well, preventing Roman from escaping the position.
Gonzales goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Roman escapes and is now in half guard on top. Gonzales won't allow Roman to pass to mount. Gonzales looking for submissions off his back. Roman trying to control from half guard but Gonzales is working away. Roman thows a huge punch but Gonzales dodges it nicely.
Roman seems to be working for a kimura but Gonzales defends the submission attempt. Gonzales is trying to control but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gonzales is staying active underneath Roman, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gonzales is trying to stand.
Gonzales flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Roman controlling the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Roman connects with a nice short shot to Gonzales's temple. Gonzales is looking for a sweep. Roman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Roman stops Gonzales from getting back to his feet.
Gonzales is refusing to be controlled, as Roman sits in half guard. Roman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gonzales with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Gonzales misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Roman wants to stand up but Gonzales is controlling the position.
Gonzales is looking to escape. Gonzales wants to get back to full guard. Roman looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ricardo Gonzales will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Dante Gael Roman's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Gonzales lands an overhand right. Ricardo Gonzales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Gonzales, right into the meat.
Roman needs to keep his hands up - Gonzales had a free shot at his head there. Gonzales moves into range and clinches up with Roman. Roman scores with a nice hook to the head. Roman blocks an uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gonzales lands on the inside with an uppercut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Roman tries to work over Gonzales's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Roman is trying to force a seperation but Gonzales has the dominant position. Gonzales lands with a right to the head.
Roman is rocked! Gonzales looks to throw an elbow but misses. Roman is still on wobbly legs! Can Gonzales finish him? Gonzales keeps control of Roman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Gonzales misses with a knee strike.
Gonzales throws a head punch that misses. Roman seems to have recovered his senses. Gonzales lands a nice uppercut. Gonzales is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Roman can do to turn this around? Gonzales comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Roman blocks an elbow strike from Gonzales.

Gonzales has Roman pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Roman is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Gonzales - that's hurt Roman badly! Oh, another knee lands and Roman is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Roman doesn't seem to be complaining.
