PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ed Frettish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Ed Frettish has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ed Frettish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Silva!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frettish throws a body kick that misses.
Silva misses with a series of wild punches.
Silva should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Silva on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Frettish. Frettish obviously looking to wear him down.
Frettish throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Silva drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Silva is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Frettish has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva tries to move to mount but Frettish blocks the move with his legs.
The referee asks Silva politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Silva prefers to stall for the moment though.

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Frettish, who protects the arm well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Frettish tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Frettish prevents Silva from moving into mount.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Silva advances nicely into full mount.

Silva is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Frettish to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Frettish shrugs it off.
Silva controlling the pace for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Frettish can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Silva has control of Frettish's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Frettish regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
