Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Ribery! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alan moves out of range of the strikes. Ribery throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Good shot there by Ribery.
It looks like James Alan has been cut. Alan shoots in but no luck this time. Alan closes the distance and clinches up with Ribery, looking for a takedown. Alan pushes Ribery against the cage but Ribery circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ribery tries a head kick but it misses.
Ribery looks to land a right hand but Alan moved out of range. Ribery shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Alan avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Ribery throws a looping overhand right but Alan ducks down to avoid it. Alan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Alan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Ribery. No joy for Alan on that attempt. Frank Ribery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Alan. Alan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ribery paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ribery throws a hook but Alan blocks it. Ribery throws a jab when Alan was well out of range. Ribery drops Alan with a nice combination! Ribery dives into Alan's guard, looking to finish!
Alan is rocked! Alan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Alan thows a huge punch but Ribery dodges it nicely.
Ribery is looking to control Alan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ribery avoid being mounted? Ribery wants to get back to full guard. Alan wants to advance to full mount but Ribery doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Alan throws a big right hand that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alan wants to pass the guard but Ribery is keeping the position. Alan is looking to work some ground and pound but Ribery has wrist control. Alan stopping the sweep attempt from Ribery.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ribery with a hook.
That has opened up James Alan's cut even more. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ribery throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Ribery throws a jab but it's blocked by Alan. Alan slips a straight right by Ribery.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alan takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Frank Ribery is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Alan fails with the takedown. Ribery is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Alan tries to clinch but Ribery is having none of it. Alan avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Alan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. A telegraphed right hand from Ribery misses the target. Ribery looks to score with a jab to the body but Alan is just out of range. Alan is trying desperately to land a takedown but Ribery is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Alan. Alan shoots for a double leg takedown but Ribery sprawls well. He's pushed Alan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Alan rushes Ribery and presses him up against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alan taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Ribery manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Alan tries to free his leg and advance position but Ribery is retaining full guard. Alan postures up in Ribery's guard and throws a big left but Ribery blocks it. Ribery is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Alan stopping the sweep attempt from Ribery. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alan is looking to work some ground and pound but Ribery has wrist control.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ribery jabs Alan right on the nose. Alan blinks but takes it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Ribery dominated that round. The cut man is working on James Alan's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ribery misses the jab. Alan has a takedown stuffed. Ribery bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Alan's head backwards. Alan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Alan is looking for a kimura but Ribery is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Alan to get the leverage. Ribery works his way to full guard. Good work. Ribery is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Ribery keeping moving, preventing Alan from controlling successfully. Ribery tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ribery dives on top into guard. Ribery passes into half guard. Alan is breathing heavily. Ribery stalling. Ribery's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Ribery prevents Alan from improving his position. Ribery postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Alan to stand up. Horrible takedown by Alan or perhaps it was just good defense by Ribery which made him look bad.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ribery looks to land a left hand but Alan moved out of range nicely. Alan gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The cut above James Alan's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Ribery lands a glancing blow to the side of Alan's head. Alan shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ribery digs a good hook to Alan's body.
Ribery throws a hook but Alan avoids it easily. Ribery misses with a looping left.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ribery pinned against the cage. Ribery gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Frank Ribery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Alan. Ribery misses with an uppercut. Alan saw that one coming. Ribery cracks Alan with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
James Alan's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Frank Ribery is winning the standup battle so far. Alan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Alan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Ribery feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Alan sprawling to the canvas! Alan rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Ribery finish him?!
Alan is still on wobbly legs! Can Ribery finish him?
The referee calls the doctor in to look at James Alan's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
