Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rafael Suez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrzej Rostowski! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suez throws out a leg kick but Rostowski moves out of range and Suez only half commits. Rostowski is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Suez. Rostowski gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Suez counters with a stiff right hand. Suez tries to clinch but Rostowski moves out of range. Suez scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Suez throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Rostowski gets caught flat footed, as Suez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Suez won't allow Rostowski to sweep him here. Suez advances position into side control! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Suez working the ground and pound. Rostowski is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Suez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Suez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suez throws a strike but Rostowski avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Suez controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Suez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rostowski for as long as he can get away with. Suez wants to control from the top but Rostowski keeps moving. Rostowski is trying to keep Suez in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Suez tries to free his leg and advance position but Rostowski is retaining full guard. Suez controlling from the top position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Suez pushing down on Rostowski's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Rostowski wants to control but Suez is keeping busy and won't allow it. Suez is keen to just control but Rostowski is a slippery customer. Rostowski is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Suez performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Suez misses with a low kick.

Suez works Rostowski's body with a nice hook. Suez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Suez rushes Rostowski and presses him up against the cage. Suez works on Rostowski's body with a couple of short punches. Rostowski is pressed up against the cage. Suez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rostowski down to the mat. Rostowski avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Suez rushes Rostowski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Suez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rostowski is trying to keep an underhook but Suez manages to get the takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rostowski is refusing to be controlled, as Suez sits in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Suez working Rostowski over with strikes. Rostowski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Suez is working away from the top position though. Rostowski felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Rostowski is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Suez is thwarting Rostowski's attempts to control the position. Rostowski tries to get to full guard but Suez has control of the leg. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rostowski is looking to control Suez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rostowski avoid being mounted? We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Suez sitting and controlling from the half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafael Suez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rostowski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Suez closes the distance and pushes Rostowski back into the cage. Suez with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Suez misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Suez lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Suez misses with a knee to the head. Suez lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Suez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rostowski.

Rostowski has Suez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Suez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Rafael Suez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrzej Rostowski. Suez is defending well against a takedown attempt. Suez throws an elbow but it misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. With the fighters up against the cage, Suez throws an elbow but misses. Rostowski goes for a takedown attempt but Suez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Suez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A looping hook to the body misses from Suez. Rostowski does a little dance to reset his feet. Rostowski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Suez circles away. Suez throws a nice looking combination but Rostowski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Suez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rostowski stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Suez lands a two punch combo.
Rostowski closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Suez did well to prevent Rostowski getting side control.

Rostowski is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Rostowski is looking for a kimura but Suez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rostowski to get the leverage. Suez manages to get to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Suez holds on and takes a little breather. Rostowski with a nice head shot there. Suez has control of Rostowski's left arm, preventing Rostowski from doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rafael Suez dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Andrzej Rostowski's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
No luck for Rostowski with that takedown attempt. Rostowski shoots in for a takedown but Suez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Rostowski drops his hands momentarily and Suez takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Suez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Rostowski! Suez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rostowski is not content to let Suez control the position. Suez avoids the attempt from Rostowski to control. Rostowski tries to get back to half guard but can't. Suez with shots to the head and body - Rostowski looks very uncomfortable down there. Rostowski is squirming around, avoiding Suez's attempts to control the action. Rafael Suez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Suez looking to control and managing it successfully. Rostowski manages to regain half guard. Good work. Suez content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Suez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Suez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rostowski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Suez looks to land a body kick but Rostowski moved away. Suez listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. A left and a right from Suez both land. Nice combination. Rostowski shoots for a double leg takedown but Suez sprawls well. He's pushed Rostowski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rafael Suez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrzej Rostowski. Decent striking displayed by Suez there. Suez throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Andrzej Rostowski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Suez clinches with his opponent.
