Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Bannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishikawa comes to the cage accompanied by mindshift genki sudo. The key to victory for Akira Ishikawa has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Ishikawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeremy Bannon!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight stays on the outside here - Ishikawa looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jeremy Bannon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ishikawa wants to clinch but Bannon slips to the side
and Bannon counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bannon tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ishikawa swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ishikawa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bannon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bannon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Ishikawa tries to stall but Bannon uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Ishikawa lands an elbow that stopped Bannon in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Jeremy Bannon has been cut.
Bannon's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bannon's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Bannon manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Ishikawa is pushing Bannon up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Ishikawa is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Bannon is keeping busy.

Ishikawa throws an elbow but it misses.

Ishikawa throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Bannon tries to score a body lock takedown but Ishikawa shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Bannon lands a takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ishikawa tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bannon trying to control but Ishikawa is working from the bottom.

Bannon prevents Ishikawa from getting back to his feet.
Bannon landing with the ground and pound.
Ishikawa keeping moving, preventing Bannon from controlling successfully.
Bannon won't allow Ishikawa to get back to his feet.
Bannon scoring with punches to the head and body.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bannon looking to sit in guard and control but Ishikawa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ishikawa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ishikawa is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Bannon has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Ishikawa is looking to defend but Bannon has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Ishikawa! Bannon pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Ishikawa taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jeremy Bannon!
After winning the bout, Jeremy Bannon thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
