Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miroslav Lazanski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jolly Leg Byrd! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from Lazanski. Byrd does a little dance to reset his feet. Byrd throws out a leg kick but Lazanski moves out of range and Byrd only half commits. Lazanski shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Byrd defends it nicely. Lazanski blocks the body kick.
Byrd throws a low kick, looking for Lazanski's leg but Lazanski calmly moves out of range. Byrd tried to score with a low kick but Lazanski checks it. A left lands for Byrd. Byrd has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Lazanski gets a takedown into half guard. Lazanski controlling the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lazanski looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Byrd is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Byrd looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lazanski has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Lazanski trying to pass the guard but Byrd defending well. Byrd wants to control but Lazanski is keeping busy.
Byrd is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lazanski pulls his head out easily. Byrd moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Lazanski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Byrd has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lazanski has managed to get both his arms back between Byrd's legs - danger averted. Byrd preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lazanski avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lazanski throws a big elbow that misses. Byrd has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Lazanski should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Byrd has tightened it up now! Lazanski should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
