The bell rings for round one and we are underway! White scores with a takedown into Nash's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. White trying to control the position from guard on top but Nash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. White has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Nash is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
White works over Nash with some ground and pound from guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nash can do anything to dispel that myth. Nash tries to close the distance and clinch up but White swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kevin Nash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nash gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Nash wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and White is now in half guard. Nash manages to escape and get back to his feet! White gets in close and instigates a clinch. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Nash is working an open guard so White takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Nash tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but White paws at him with a jab and circles away. White throws a combination. Nash tries to block but a couple of punches get through. White moves out of range as Nash strikes. White moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. White scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Nash takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. White takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. White wants to take a breather but Nash is having none of it. White prevents Nash from standing back up.
