Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rey Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan De La Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De La Cruz has chosen Party at 802 as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rey Johnston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan De La Cruz! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnston misses with the combination.
De La Cruz looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Johnston tries to score a power double leg takedown but De La Cruz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnston somewhat. De La Cruz with a lazy takedown attempt and Johnston holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Johnston pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Johnston throws a right and a left that De La Cruz avoids nicely. De La Cruz misses with a series of wild punches.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnston looks like he's thinking about clinching though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnston could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Johnston decides to take the fight back to the feet. Johnston feints and as De La Cruz raises his hands in defense, Johnston changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Johnston missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Johnston drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnston jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnston stands up from guard. Let's bang! No luck for Johnston with that takedown attempt. De La Cruz keeps the fight on the outside. Johnston fails to land with a series of punches.
Johnston closes the distance and clinches up with De La Cruz, looking for a takedown. Johnston pushes De La Cruz against the cage but De La Cruz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Johnston closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. De La Cruz did well to prevent Johnston getting side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Johnston goes for a double leg but De La Cruz avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as De La Cruz continues to drive forward. Johnston's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. The fight moves into the clinch position. Johnston wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but De La Cruz has him pressed against the cage. De La Cruz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnston pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnston misses with a takedown attempt - De La Cruz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. De La Cruz falls off balance throwing a combination
and Johnston decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in De La Cruz's guard. De La Cruz is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnston stands up and waves to De La Cruz to follow him. Johnston fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rey Johnston. That's going to take a lot out of him. De La Cruz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and De La Cruz wants it to stay on the feet. Johnston fails in his attempt to clinch. Johnston misses with a head kick.
Johnston is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that De La Cruz can do to turn this around? De La Cruz is looking to clinch but Johnston is avoiding it.

De La Cruz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnston. Johnston fails with the takedown. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnston. De La Cruz checks the leg kick nicely there.

Rey Johnston is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Johnston closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Johnston lands in his opponent's guard. De La Cruz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Johnston stops De La Cruz from standing up. Johnston is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Johnston gets to his feet. De La Cruz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Johnston stands up out of the half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Johnston clinches up with De La Cruz and pushes him back against the cage. Johnston's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Johnston misses with a head kick.

De La Cruz keeps the fight on the outside. Johnston closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into De La Cruz's guard. Johnston gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Some wild striking there from Johnston.

Johnston slips a nice elbow through De La Cruz's hands, connecting with De La Cruz's forehead. De La Cruz wants to get back to his feet. De La Cruz is defending against the submission attempts here by Johnston.

Johnston throwing shots but De La Cruz is blocking nicely. Johnston is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De La Cruz defends it well. Nice strikes from Johnston there. Johnston decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Johnston manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. De La Cruz manages to get himself to full guard.
Johnston throws a big right hand that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnston stands up and waves to De La Cruz to follow him. Johnston fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Juan De La Cruz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rey Johnston is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rey Johnston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Johnston lands a lovely overhand right.
And that's the end of the fight! Rey Johnston showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnston, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
