Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Price! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nyrkki Hippa! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hippa fails to land the takedown. Price stuffs the takedown. Hippa swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Price scores with a takedown into Hippa's guard. Price is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Hippa is working an open guard so Price takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Price has closed the distance and engaged Hippa in a clinch.
A short uppercut from Price. Price is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hippa can't fight it off and eventually Price manages to take the fight to the floor. Hippa looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hippa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Price. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Price stands up from guard. Let's bang! Price shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Price showed some decent athleticism there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Price wants to pass to mount but Hippa is defending the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Price is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hippa is just riding it out for now. Price eventually gives up the hold. Price moves into full mount! Hippa won't be happy about that! Hippa is in all sorts of trouble here.
Price landing strikes from the mount. Hippa is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Price landing strikes, looking to finish! Price looking to secure an arm triangle but Hippa defends it well. Price is breathing heavily. Price lands a heavy elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hippa tries to hold on but Price pushes him away. Price lands a nice shot to the head. Price working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hippa tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hippa tries to hold on but Price postures up. Price looking to control but Hippa is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hippa is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Price swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
