Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roi Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Monson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roi Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeff Monson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab by Nelson. Nelson scores with a jab to the jaw. Monson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Monson showed some decent athleticism there. Monson wants to free his trapped foot but Nelson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Nelson is looking to control Monson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nelson avoid being mounted? Monson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nelson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Monson controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Monson defends well. Nelson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Monson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Monson trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Nelson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Monson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Monson advances to half guard. Nelson wants to get back to full guard. Nelson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Monson is working away from the top position though. Nelson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Monson pulls his head out easily. Monson content to control rather than advance.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Monson shoots in and gets a takedown into Nelson's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Nelson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Monson defends it easily. Monson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Monson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Nelson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Monson stays in close to Nelson's body and controls the position. Nelson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Monson is aware though and is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Monson content to stall in guard here. Monson trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nelson has his foot on Monson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Monson works his way back into a safe position though. Monson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Nelson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Nelson keeping moving, preventing Monson from controlling successfully. Nelson is trying to control the position but Monson postures up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Nelson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. A jab from Nelson misses. Monson takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nelson is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Nice straight punches there by Nelson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Nelson. Nelson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Nelson scores with a jab to the head.
Nelson lands a really nice looking cross but Monson seems unphased.
Nelson looks to throw the jab but Monson is out of range. Monson slips a straight right by Nelson. Nelson with a hook. Monson looks winded! Nelson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Nelson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nelson with a hook. Nice shot lands for Nelson. Nelson sends Monson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Nelson is motioning to the referee to let Monson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Monson is rocked! Monson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Monson ducks right into an uppercut from Nelson. Monson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nelson. Nelson cracks Monson with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Monson looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Nelson finish him?
Monson is still on wobbly legs! Can Nelson finish him? Nelson jabbing away but nothing is landing. Monson seems to have recovered his senses. Roi Nelson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nelson drops Monson with a big left hand! Monson is injured, injured bad! Nelson jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roi Nelson!
