Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Steve Watson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Watson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Watson fails in his attempt to clinch.

Watson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Watson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Coleman goes for a takedown attempt but Watson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Watson looks to land a left hand but Coleman moved out of range nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watson tries to clinch up but Coleman circles away and keeps his distance.
Watson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Watson throws the left hand but Coleman avoids the punch easily.

Watson clinches with his opponent.
Watson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Coleman prevents a body shot from Watson.
Watson tries for a takedown. No joy.

Watson decides to pull guard.
Coleman content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Coleman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Coleman is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Coleman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Watson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coleman has managed to get both his arms back between Watson's legs - danger averted.
Coleman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Coleman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Watson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Watson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Coleman has passed into side control.

Watson tries to improve position but can't.
Watson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Coleman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Still in half guard, Coleman seems content to control.
Coleman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Watson wants to control but Coleman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Watson won't allow Coleman to pass to mount.
Coleman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Coleman trying to control the action but Watson is working from the bottom.
Watson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Watson.

Watson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coleman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Watson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Coleman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Watson looking for subs off his back but Coleman has passed one foot through into half guard.

Coleman is looking for a kimura but Watson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Coleman to get the leverage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Watson is trying to control but can't.
Watson is looking to improve his position.
Coleman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman trying to mount his opponent but Watson defends it.
Watson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Coleman is working away from the top position though.
Watson is trying to get back to full guard.
Coleman looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Coleman is working for a submission of some sort.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Coleman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Watson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Watson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Watson just misses with a punch to the body.
Watson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Watson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Coleman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Watson.
Watson misses with a straight right.
Watson misses with a straight left.
Watson has his takedown stuffed

and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coleman is in close to Watson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Coleman connects with a couple of short punches.

Coleman drops an elbow to the side of Watson's head.

Watson is refusing to be controlled, as Coleman sits in half guard.
Coleman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Coleman is trying to control the action in half guard but Watson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Coleman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Watson actively working from the bottom here.
Coleman uses his free foot to push down on Watson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Watson.
BOOM! Coleman connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Watson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Coleman lands a nice shot to the head.
Watson tries to reverse the position but Coleman maintains control.
Coleman landing strikes, looking to finish!
Coleman landing strikes from the mount and Watson is in trouble!
The referee warns Watson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Oh Watson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Coleman looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Watson covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
