Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ashot Rakobesyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rauno Taurkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rakobesyan comes to the cage accompanied by gimn armenii. Rauno Taurkonen will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rauno Taurkonen! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taurkonen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rakobesyan is fending him off so far but Taurkonen persists. Nope, Rakobesyan circles away and we're back to standing. Taurkonen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Rakobesyan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Taurkonen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rakobesyan feints and then cracks Taurkonen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Taurkonen down. Taurkonen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rakobesyan circles away. Taurkonen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Rakobesyan! Taurkonen seems to have recovered his senses. Rakobesyan is trying to escape the position but Taurkonen is controlling the position. Rakobesyan is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Taurkonen asserts his dominance and retains side control. Taurkonen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Taurkonen looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rakobesyan is avoiding damage well.
