16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenshin Yamamoto! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rimhak Wonha! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wonha closes the distance and pushes Yamamoto back into the cage. Yamamoto wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Yamamoto has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Yamamoto can't break the clinch.
Wonha comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
It looks like Kenshin Yamamoto has been cut. Yamamoto drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Wonha gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yamamoto blocks the elbow strike.
Wonha throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Yamamoto blocks it with crossed arms. Yamamoto wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Wonha with a knee to the head.

Yamamoto takes a knee to the side of the body. Yamamoto goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wonha prevents it.
Wonha prevents Yamamoto from breaking the clinch. Wonha lands a nice knee to the body. Wonha unloads a knee to the mid-section. Yamamoto lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Yamamoto is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenshin Yamamoto. That's going to take a lot out of him. Yamamoto drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wonha has Yamamoto pressed against the cage, preventing Yamamoto from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wonha gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Wonha with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Yamamoto is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wonha pulls him back up using the underhooks. Yamamoto working hard to break the clinch. Wonha lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Yamamoto goes for a takedown attempt but Wonha pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Yamamoto lands a nice hook to Wonha's body. Wonha takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Yamamoto throws a hook to the side of Wonha's head but Wonha sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. That kick from Wonha tenderised Yamamoto's leg. Yamamoto is trying to keep his angry face on. Yamamoto throws out a powerful jab. Yamamoto moves out of range as Wonha throws a body kick.
Yamamoto with a poor takedown and Wonha makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Yamamoto misses with a wild body shot. Rimhak Wonha is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Wonha throws a leg kick that misses. Wonha pushes Yamamoto away with a front kick. Yamamoto misses with a lunging right hand
and Wonha counters with a slapping leg kick. Yamamoto throws a shot from downtown. Wonha moves away and avoids it. Yamamoto shoots in for a takedown but Wonha shows good takedown defense. Wonha uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Yamamoto.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wonha scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Wonha lands with a kick to the ribs.
Yamamoto throws a jab but it's blocked by Wonha. Wonha tries to clinch up. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Yamamoto misses with an uppercut. Wonha defending well as Yamamoto loads up on a big left hand. Yamamoto swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Wonha. Yamamoto just misses with a punch to the body.
Wonha lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Yamamoto rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Wonha counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Wonha gets caught flat footed, as Yamamoto shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rimhak Wonha dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kenshin Yamamoto's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Wonha throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Wonha scores with a leg kick.
Yamamoto swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A jab from Yamamoto misses. Yamamoto sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Wonha uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Yamamoto. Wonha tries to clinch up. Yamamoto moves out of range of the body kick from Wonha.

and Wonha counters with a thumping low kick. Wonha misses with a body kick. Yamamoto shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wonha is trying to defend but Yamamoto finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Wonha keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wonha controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Yamamoto not landing any meaningful shots this time. Wonha wants to get back to full guard. Yamamoto passes to full mount! Wonha is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Wonha is squirming around, avoiding Yamamoto's attempts to control the action. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Wonha really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Yamamoto will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Yamamoto moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Wonha has worked his arm free - good work by Wonha!

A relieved looking Kenshin Yamamoto thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
