Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre Carlitos ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sonny McLager! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLager tries to close the distance and clinch but Carlitos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nice takedown defense from Carlitos . No joy for McLager on that attempt. Carlitos misses with a two punch combination.
Carlitos connects with a crisp jab.
It looks like Sonny McLager has been cut. Carlitos scores with a takedown into McLager's guard.
McLager is rocked! Carlitos drops back looking for a leg! McLager is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McLager manages to kick Carlitos off! Carlitos jumps back into McLager's guard. McLager is still in real trouble! Can Carlitos finish him? Carlitos thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. McLager seems to have recovered his senses. McLager really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlitos . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Carlitos pushes down on McLager's leg and manages to get into half guard. Carlitos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Carlitos tries to pass the half guard into mount. McLager knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carlitos works his foot free and advances to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carlitos throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! McLager has his hands clasped together but Carlitos breaks the hold and McLager is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Carlitos !
