Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arron Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Floriano Gualdoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arron Martin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Floriano Gualdoni! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martin fails to land the takedown. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Martin is defended easily by Gualdoni. Martin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gualdoni sprawls well. Gualdoni wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martin gets slowly back to his feet. Gualdoni's coach down at Pitbull MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gualdoni's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arron Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gualdoni throws a left and a right that both miss
and Martin counters with a one-two to the body. Gualdoni misses with a double jab.
Gualdoni forces Martin back against the cage and clinches. Martin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gualdoni moves into the clinch. Gualdoni looking to throw knees to the head but Martin is blocking nicely.
Gualdoni is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Martin to keep the fight standing. Gualdoni looks winded!

Gualdoni fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Martin, pushing him back against the cage. Gualdoni can't get the takedown.
Martin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Martin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Martin fails to land the takedown. Martin rushes Gualdoni and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Gualdoni goes for a takedown attempt but Martin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Martin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gualdoni sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Martin somewhat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gualdoni throws a sloppy head kick and Martin moves out of range easily. Martin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gualdoni swivels and escapes. Martin lands a nice shot that snaps Gualdoni's head back.
Martin drives through and clinches with Gualdoni against the cage.
Martin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Gualdoni moves into the clinch. Gualdoni is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

That was a close round but I would say that Arron Martin will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gualdoni has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Martin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Martin darts in and clinches Gualdoni up against the cage. Come on Gualdoni - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Gualdoni is breathing heavily. Martin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gualdoni walks away with a smile on his face. Martin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Gualdoni throws a right hand that Martin ducks under and follows up with a left that Martin also avoids with ease. Gualdoni throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Martin drives through with a takedown into guard. Gualdoni preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gualdoni working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Martin. Martin working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Martin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Gualdoni has momentary wrist control but Martin slips an elbow through the middle. Martin is looking to work some ground and pound but Gualdoni has wrist control. Martin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Martin stands up over Gualdoni, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Martin scoring with punches to the head and body. Martin stands up over Gualdoni, holding his feet. Martin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Arron Martin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Martin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gualdoni to the ground. Martin is now in Gualdoni's guard. Martin works over Gualdoni with some ground and pound from guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Martin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gualdoni looking for a sweep. Not yet Gualdoni, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gualdoni avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Martin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gualdoni is trying to keep Martin in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Martin chips away with some ground and pound. Martin throwing strikes from guard but Gualdoni blocks nicely.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Martin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gualdoni as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arron Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Martin moves into range and clinches up with Gualdoni. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Martin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Martin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Gualdoni throws a chopping leg kick but Martin manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Martin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gualdoni defends it nicely. A combination from Gualdoni does no damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martin throws a nice inside leg kick. Gualdoni misses with the combination.
Martin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Gualdoni wants to hit a switch here but Martin passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gualdoni there! Martin with good strikes from the mount here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gualdoni is looking to get to half guard. Martin connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Martin unloading with bombs! Martin lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Martin landing strikes from the mount and Gualdoni is in trouble! Martin breaks from Gualdoni's wrist control and lands an elbow. Martin scoring with strikes but Gualdoni is staying in there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gualdoni's face.
Martin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Martin with the ground and pound from mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Martin is landing with some decent strikes but Gualdoni is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Martin wants to take Gualdoni's back here but Gualdoni is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Arron Martin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Martin lands a heavy elbow.
And that's the end of the fight! Arron Martin showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Martin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
