Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mauricio Farley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Brick! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Farley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Brick looking to control.
Farley trying to control the position from guard on top but Brick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brick wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Farley manages to pass to side control. Farley is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Farley wants to work for an arm triangle but Brick is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brick is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brick is trying to control but Farley passes into side control!
A control attempt from Brick but he's now mounted! Farley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Brick looks winded! Farley looking to control and managing it successfully. Farley trying to control but he's not successful this time. BOOM! Farley connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Farley is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Farley working Brick over with strikes here. Farley lands with some strikes. Farley is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Brick has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Farley looking to control but Brick is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Farley landing strikes from the mount and Brick is in trouble! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Farley working for a submission but Brick is keeping him at bay. Farley lands a nice shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Farley working for a guillotine from mount but Brick is in no mood to give up. Farley lands a couple of good shots and Brick has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Farley is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Brick is defending well though. Farley let's go of the attempt for now. Farley scores with punches and elbows. Brick looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Farley has one arm under Brick 's neck. Brick is controlling the other arm well. He's just looking to survive right now. Farley manages to get his arm free though and Brick is in a world of trouble! Farley sinks in the hooks and squeezes! Brick turns purple and then goes limp. The referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mauricio Farley!
