Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Boyette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trent Boyette will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trent Boyette! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boyette throws a combination that misses and Smith counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Smith. Boyette is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boyette for as long as he can get away with. Boyette is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boyette avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Smith forces his way into half guard. Smith controlling the action here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Boyette forces Smith back against the cage and clinches. Smith is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Boyette can't fight it off and eventually Smith manages to take the fight to the floor. Boyette looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith stops Boyette from standing up. Smith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Smith is working Boyette over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Boyette utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Smith controlling from the top position. Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boyette looks to land a combination. Smith sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Smith tries to keep at a distance but Boyette has taken the fight into the clinch. Boyette missing with knees to the body.
Boyette wants to get back to striking at distance but Smith won't allow it.
Smith has Boyette pushed against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Boyette can't fight it off and eventually Smith manages to take the fight to the floor. Boyette looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boyette swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smith controlling from the top position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Smith dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Boyette is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Smith is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith continues to stall.

Boyette moves into the clinch. Smith lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Boyette swings wildly with an uppercut but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it. Boyette trying to stall but Smith improves his position.
Boyette is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage. Smith has clasped his hands together around Boyette's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Boyette being controlled for a moment. Boyette sneaks out the side door and pushes Smith away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boyette has managed to clinch.
Boyette struggles to land a body shot inside as Smith controls his hands.
Boyette tries to throw a body punch but Smith avoids it by throwing Boyette back against the cage. Boyette is trying to maintain a safe position but Smith gets an underhook and turns Boyette into the cage. Smith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Boyette pushes Smith back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Smith has hold of one of Boyette's legs. Boyette is fighting the takedown attempt but Smith gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Boyette is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jon Smith will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Boyette throws a body shot but no joy. Smith has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boyette tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boyette to the ground. Boyette escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Boyette misses with a wild combination.
Jon Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Boyette moves into the clinch successfully.
Boyette is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Boyette regains guard immediately. Smith won't allow Boyette to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Boyette gets in close and instigates a clinch. Boyette is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Smith has Boyette pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Smith pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Boyette tumbling to the mat - Smith dives into Boyette's guard. Smith stays in close to Boyette's body and controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boyette wants to stand up but Smith is controlling him. Jon Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Smith stays in close to Boyette's body and controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Further stalling from Smith. This is a sustained period of stalling by Smith. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Trent Boyette. I think Smith has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
