Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between M J Shain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Batson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shain comes to the cage accompanied by Thunderstruck. Bill Batson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with M J Shain's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
37 - 26 - 2, fighting out of New York, M J Shain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
36 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Batson! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Shain throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Shain slips a straight right by Batson. Good shot there by Shain. Shain swings for the body but Batson moves out of range.
Batson checks a leg kick nicely. Shain throws a nice outside leg kick. Batson misses with a low kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Batson. Shain does a little dance to reset his feet. Shain looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Shain throws a leg kick which misses Batson's front leg but catches the back leg as Batson tries to avoid it. A solid leg kick lands there for Shain.
A jab from Batson misses. Shain misses with an uppercut. Shain takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Shain throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Shain ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Batson moves away. Batson throws the left hand but Shain avoids the punch easily. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Batson.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shain. Batson does a little dance to reset his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shain goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. M J Shain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Shain or perhaps it was just good defense by Batson, which made it look bad. Batson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Batson connects with a nice looking jab.
Shain displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Batson throws out the jab. Shain throws a leg kick that is checked and Shain takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like M J Shain has been cut. Shain misses with a takedown attempt - Batson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Batson throws a head kick but Shain moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Shain. Shain tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Batson swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for M J Shain. That's going to take a lot out of him. Good leg kick by Batson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Batson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shain is out of range and Batson settles back down. Batson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Jab, jab by Shain - just one landing. Shain scores with a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shain ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Batson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Batson walks into a straight right hand from Shain. Shain throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shain throws a low kick but it's checked well by Batson. Batson misses with a body shot.
Batson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shain.
Shain connects with a leg kick. Batson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Batson lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Batson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shain eats them both and turns towards Batson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Batson misses with a hook. Batson throws the kick towards the body but Shain avoids it. Batson lands a nice shot that snaps Shain's head back.
Bill Batson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Batson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Batson checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Jab from Shain. Shain connects with a right hand. Batson shakes it off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shain looks for a takedown but Batson sprawls well. Batson throws a leg kick but Shain moved away. Shain looks for the body kick but Batson saw that one coming. Shain checks a leg kick. Batson jabs at Shain's body. Batson throws a body kick that misses. Shain ducks under a wild hook from Batson. Shain shoots and misses and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Shain keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Shain throws a hook to the side of Batson's head but Batson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Shain throws a looping overhand right but Batson ducks down to avoid it. Batson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Batson lands with an overhand left. Shain uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Batson. Nice uppercut lands for Shain. That snapped Batson's head back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Batson misses the target. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Batson misses with a two punch combination.
Shain checks the leg kick nicely there.
Batson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shain. Batson throws a jab but it's blocked by Shain. Batson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Batson has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far. Shain lands the left hand. Shain throws a leg kick but Batson moved away. Batson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Shain. Shain chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Batson can pounce on him.
Batson fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Shain is out of range. Shain catches Batson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shain takes a swing at Batson's ribcage but misses. Batson lands a nice looking body shot.
Batson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Batson swings away with a leg kick that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Batson dominated that round. The cut man is working on M J Shain's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Batson misses with a hook. Shain ducked under it nicely. Shain walks into a stiff left hand from Batson. Batson throws a body kick that misses. Shain just misses with a punch to the body.

Shain moves away from the strike by Batson. Shain looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Batson misses with a low kick. Batson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Shain on the side of the head. Batson wants to slow Shain down by chopping away at his legs. Shain checks a leg kick. Shain digs a good body shot into Batson's ribs. Shain lands with a nice combination. Batson backs away looking to recover. Shain closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Batson did well to prevent Shain getting side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Batson is defending against the submission attempts here by Shain.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Shain lands a nice short elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shain working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Batson is trying to control but can't.
Shain looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Batson is looking to improve his position.
Shain wants to free his trapped foot but Batson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Shain thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shain is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Batson is just riding it out for now. Shain eventually gives up the hold. Batson wants to control but Shain is keeping busy.
Batson is controlling Shain's trapped leg to prevent Shain from advancing to side control. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Batson tries to roll over but Shain keeps him under control. Shain is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Batson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shain stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Batson throws a leg kick that misses. Batson looks to land a left hand but Shain moved out of range nicely. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Batson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Batson throws a push kick but Shain slaps the foot to one side. Batson throws a big shot that misses. Shain lands with a cross. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that M J Shain will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on M J Shain's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Shain wants to control from the top but Batson keeps moving. Shain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Batson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shain. That's three minutes gone in the round. Batson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Shain to score with a decent uppercut. Batson misses with a leg kick. Batson goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Shain needs to keep his hands up - Batson had a free shot at his head there. Nice shot by Batson. Batson misses with an uppercut. Shain saw that one coming. Batson misses with a looping right. Shain throws a body kick that misses. Batson misses the jab. Shain fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Batson checks it well. Shain takes one on the button. Batson misses with a low kick. Shain lets loose with a powerful body kick. Batson will feel that in the morning. Shain is looking to slow Batson down with leg kicks. That's four minutes gone in the round. Shain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Batson's waist but Batson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shain off to one side. Shain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shain scores with a shot to the body.

Shain cracks the inside of Batson's front leg. Shain looks to land a right hand but Batson moved out of range. Shain checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Batson. Shain shrugs it off though. Batson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Shain checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Shain ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Shain manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Batson on his heels. He'll look to pass Batson's guard now, I'm sure. M J Shain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Batson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Batson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
