The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Khalifman.
Khalifman misses the shot to the body.

Da La Rosa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Da La Rosa tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Da La Rosa has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Khalifman manages to get back to half guard.

Khalifman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Da La Rosa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Da La Rosa has his foot on Khalifman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Khalifman works his way back into a safe position though.

Khalifman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Da La Rosa is bucking up trying to escape but Khalifman cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Khalifman throws a combination. Da La Rosa tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Da La Rosa shoots in looking for a takedown. Khalifman tries to sprawl out of it but Da La Rosa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Khalifman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Khalifman slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Da La Rosa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Khalifman's waist but Khalifman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Da La Rosa off to one side.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
