Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Butcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raijin Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kage has chosen Gojira - Oroborus as his entrance music. Raijin Kage has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Butcher!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raijin Kage!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butcher checks a leg kick.
Butcher scores with a punch to the head.
Kage throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kage showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Butcher.
Kage lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A good leg kick by Kage.
Kage tries to score a power double leg takedown but Butcher sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kage somewhat.
Butcher pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kage is out of range and Butcher settles back down.

Kage shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kage showed some decent athleticism there.
Butcher tries to get to full guard but Kage has control of the leg.
Butcher has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kage is looking to advance position but Butcher won't allow it.
Kage frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Butcher is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Butcher is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kage's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kage's back!
Kage tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Butcher is trying to stick to Kage's back but Kage is turning into Butcher. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Butcher's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kage.

Butcher wants to sweep here but Kage controlling him for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Butcher pulls Kage in close to his closed guard and prevents Kage from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kage slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kage wants to pass the guard but Butcher is keeping the position.
Butcher utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Butcher has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Butcher is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kage shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kage fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kage walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Butcher checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
The fighters circle momentarily. Butcher darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


It looks like Raijin Kage has been cut.
Kage tries to score with a low kick but Butcher moves his leg out of the way.
Kage tries to work over Butcher's front leg with a kick but Butcher checks it.
Kage misses with an uppercut.
Butcher swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Kage counters with a nice double leg into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Raijin Kage will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kage fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kage connects with a leg kick. Butcher looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Butcher throws an overhand right that lands on Kage's shoulder, as Kage tries to avoid the shot.

Raijin Kage has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Butcher swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kage is in close to Butcher's body, working some short punches and elbows.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kage working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Butcher wants to get back to his feet.
