The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
A punch combination from Souza misses.
Souza gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lopez counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lopez stalling against the ropes.

Souza wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Souza tries to break free but Lopez pushes him back against the ropes.

Souza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lopez's guard.

Lopez tries to improve position but can't.
Lopez sneaks back into half guard.
Souza passes to side control.
Souza controls the position.

Lopez is trying to get back to his feet.
Souza tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Lopez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Souza wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lopez is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Lopez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Souza is looking to advance position but Lopez won't allow it.
Lopez is staying active underneath Souza, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Lopez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souza. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
