Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Austin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wanderlei Silva! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slow jab from Austin misses its intended target. Austin is looking to clinch but Silva is avoiding it.
Silva clobbers Austin with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Austin fails in his attempt to clinch. Silva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Austin.
Austin moves into range and clinches up with Silva. Nice elbow from Austin.
It looks like Wanderlei Silva has been cut. Silva is trying to force a seperation but Austin has the dominant position. Silva breaks from the clinch.
Austin tries to clinch but Silva moves out of range. Austin fails in his attempt to clinch. Austin closes the distance and clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Austin lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Silva blocks the elbow strike.
Austin is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Silva wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Austin throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Silvas head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Austin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Austin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Silva throws a series of punches but Austin avoids them all with ease. Austin changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Austin darts in and clinches Silva up against the cage. Austin lands with a short head shot on the inside. Austin lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Austin breaks from the clinch.

Austin presses Silva against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Austin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Silva throws a right and a left that Austin avoids nicely. Austin clinches with his opponent.
Austin swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Silva's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Austin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Austin wants to clinch. Austin forces Silva back against the cage and clinches. Silva has had enough of the clinch but Austin keeps him there for the moment. Austin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Austin fails in his attempt to clinch. Austin tries to clinch but Silva moves away and Silva counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. We've been told by Austin's head coaches at Bi-polar Asylum that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Austin throws a right and a left that both miss. Silva throws a right and a left that Austin avoids nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Austin tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Austin moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off. Austin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center. Austin tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it. Austin tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Silva counters with a series of strikes. Austin will be more careful next time no doubt. A left and a right from Austin both land. Nice combination.
That has opened up Wanderlei Silva's cut even more. Austin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center. Silva misses with a jab, cross combination.
Austin tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it. Sloppy strikes from Silva. Those never looked like landing. Silva throws a wild hook but Austin just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Silva gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Austin raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Austin! A relieved looking Jack Austin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
