PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Esteban Mcdaniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Sense (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Trevor Sense!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcdaniel takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Sense rushes Mcdaniel and presses him up against the cage.
Mcdaniel tries to circle away but Sense has him pinned against the cage.
Sense has Mcdaniel pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mcdaniel manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Mcdaniel pulls guard effortlessly.
Mcdaniel tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sense tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcdaniel is retaining full guard.
Mcdaniel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sense's guard.

Mcdaniel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sense works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Sense looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcdaniel keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sense's head.

Mcdaniel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mcdaniel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sense utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sense can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mcdaniel distracts Sense with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Sense utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mcdaniel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sense pushes Mcdaniel off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Sense shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mcdaniel is trying to defend but Sense finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Mcdaniel has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sense is working away from the top position though.
Mcdaniel is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sense is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Sense wants to stand up but Mcdaniel is controlling the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sense is looking to take a break and control but Mcdaniel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sense wants to pass to mount but Mcdaniel is defending the position.
Sense tries to stand and escape but Mcdaniel is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Sense doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mcdaniel counters with a straight right hand.

Nice sprawl there from Mcdaniel as Sense shoots in.
Esteban Mcdaniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Sense.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcdaniel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sense manages to get himself to full guard.

Mcdaniel is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Sense is trying to escape and Mcdaniel transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Sense is forced to tap! Nice work there by Mcdaniel! Very nice indeed!
