Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sammy Sugarol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sammy Sugarol!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Summer Carpenter and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vega misses with a hook.
Sugarol defending well as Vega loads up on a big left hand.

Vega fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sugarol sprawls well initially but Vega persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sugarol holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Vega looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Vega not landing any meaningful shots this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vega is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sugarol defends it well.

Vega tries to free his leg and advance position but Sugarol is retaining full guard.
Sugarol has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Vega is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sugarol has managed to free his arm - good work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vega wants to free his trapped foot but Sugarol is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sugarol has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vega is working away from the top position though.
Sugarol is staying active underneath Vega, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Sugarol won't allow Vega to pass to mount.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Vega keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Vega takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Sugarol counters with a nice uppercut.
Vega throws a jab when Sugarol was well out of range.

Vega shoots in but Sugarol avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Vega looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sugarol is fending him off so far but Vega persists. Nope, Sugarol circles away and we're back to standing.

Sammy Sugarol is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Vega looks to land a right hand but Sugarol moved out of range.

and Sugarol counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sugarol does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Sugarol holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Vega throws an elbow but it misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sugarol lands a right hand that snaps the head of Vega backwards.
Sugarol can't find room to land a body shot as Vega controls the action.
Vega tries to throw a body punch but Sugarol avoids it by throwing Vega back against the cage.
Vega pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Vega dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Vega throws the left hand but Sugarol avoids the punch easily.
Sugarol connects with the punch.
Vega is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Vega misses with an uppercut
and Sugarol counters with a right hand to the body.
Vega shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sugarol but Sugarol pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Vega cracks Sugarol with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Sugarol lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Vega throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sugarol takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

and Sugarol counters with a nice leg kick.

Vega shoots in for a takedown but Sugarol shows good takedown defense.

Steve Vega seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sugarol lands with a hook. Vega tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Vega throws a right and a left that Sugarol avoids nicely.
Vega walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Sugarol changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Oh Vega is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vega pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Sugarol lands a slapping body shot.
Sugarol takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Vega throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Vega. Sugarol does a little dance to reset his feet.
Vega has his takedown stuffed
and Sugarol counters with a thumping low kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sammy Sugarol showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Sugarol scores with a hook to the body. Vega takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Sugarol seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Vega postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sugarol is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vega, into his guard.

Sugarol stands and throws Vega's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Vega is not content to let Sugarol control the position.
Vega is looking to regain half guard here but Sugarol keeps moving and retains side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vega tries to improve position but can't.

Sugarol wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vega keeps working.
Vega tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sugarol wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Vega wants to control but Sugarol postures up.
Sugarol is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vega will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Let's hope that Sugarol has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Vega is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Sugarol wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vega keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Vega throws a good cross that connects.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Vega throws a hook but Sugarol blocks it.

Sammy Sugarol comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sugarol has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
