Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Weller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Yews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yews is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: In Flames - Crawl Through Knives. Paul Yews will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Weller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Yews! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Chris Dean and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weller shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Yews's guard. Weller looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Yews manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Weller manages to get himself to full guard.

Weller definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Yews throwing strikes from guard but Weller blocks nicely. Yews stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weller swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yews slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yews trying to control the position from guard on top but Weller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Yews stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weller swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Weller being controlled here, momentarily.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Yews lands with a shot to the body. The fight moves into the clinch position. Weller goes for a takedown in the clinch but Yews prevents it.
Yews breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yews lands with a slapping head kick.
It looks like Joe Weller has been cut. Yews has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yews moves into the clinch. Yews breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Yews moves into the clinch. Weller is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Yews to keep the fight standing. A nice right hand lands inside from Yews. A short body shot lands from Yews as the two fighters clinch.
Yews has picked Weller up - he's going for a ride! Yews dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Yews is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Yews decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yews has Weller up against the cage in a clinch.
Yews drags the fight down to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! There's a bit of a scramble here and now Yews is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yews looking to pass the guard. Yews gets to his feet - Weller follows without any prompting. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Yews drives through and clinches with Weller against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yews closes the distance and clinches. Yews jumps into guard, dragging Weller to the mat.
Weller trying to control the position from guard on top but Yews is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Yews seems keen to control Weller's posture. Weller got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yews has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Weller has managed to get both his arms back between Yews's legs - danger averted. Weller avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yews has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yews tries to land a sweep but no joy. Yews thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. The fighters are working up against the cage. Yews manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Yews tries to score a body lock takedown but Weller shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Yews effectively controlling the action here. Yews lands with a short head shot on the inside. Yews breaks from the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yews connects with the punch. Yews drives through and clinches with Weller against the cage.
Yews has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Yews looking for a takedown. Yews tries to break free but Weller pushes him back against the cage. Weller tries to throw a body punch but Yews avoids it by throwing Weller back against the cage. Yews keeps control of Weller as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Yews drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Weller gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Joe Weller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Yews. Yews changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Weller fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from Yews. Those never looked like landing. Weller takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Yews throws the kick towards the body but Weller avoids it. Yews moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Weller doesn't manage to clinch there - Yews circles away.
Joe Weller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Yews scores with a three punch combo!
Yews shoots in looking for a takedown but Weller manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Yews's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Yews drives through and clinches with Weller against the cage.

Weller changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Yews fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Yews closes the distance and clinches. Yews pulls Weller into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Yews pulls Weller in to control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Weller pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Yews tumbling to the mat - Weller dives into Yews's guard. Yews looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Yews pulls Weller in to control the position. Yews has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Weller can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Yews keeping moving, preventing Weller from controlling successfully. Yews lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Yews drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yews jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Yews is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Yews gets to his feet. Weller looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Yews gets a clinch. Yews drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Weller gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Weller jumps guard but Yews stands there with Weller around his waist. Weller gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Yews breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yews moves into the clinch. Yews has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Weller uses from the top position. Yews pulls Weller in close to his closed guard and prevents Weller from doing any damage or advancing position. Yews throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yews pulls Weller in close to prevent any damage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Let's hope that Yews has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Weller trying to control the position from guard on top but Yews is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that's the end of the fight! Paul Yews comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Yews has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
