Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davis Burgess! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wayne Mantini! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Mantini misses. Mantini misses with a hook
and Burgess counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mantini misses the jab. Mantini thuds a left hand into Burgess's body. Mantini lands a right hook to the body.
Mantini moves into the clinch successfully.
Burgess really is a fat lump. Burgess is trying to break the clinch but Mantini has him pressed against the cage. Mantini is trying to break the clinch but Burgess has him pressed against the cage. Mantini working hard to break the clinch. Mantini scores with a shoulder strike. A nice left hand lands by Mantini.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Burgess looking for a takedown. Mantini lands a hook that snaps the head of Burgess backwards.
That's one minute gone in the round. A short right from Mantini on the inside. Burgess is stalling here.

Mantini lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Burgess. Mantini stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Mantini lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Burgess or not. Mantini lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Mantini softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Burgess is working for takedown but Mantini is calmly controlling the position for now. Mantini lands with a left to the head. Nice body punch from Mantini - that landed with a thud.
Burgess is breathing heavily. A battle for position here, against the cage. Burgess takes a shot to the head. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Mantini. A short right from Mantini.
Burgess is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mantini presses Burgess against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Oh Burgess is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Mantini's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Burgess really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Mantini steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Burgess is out on his feet! Mantini sets himself and nearly takes Burgess's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Wayne Mantini!
