PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grandmaster Flash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phantom Troupe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phantom Troupe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Grandmaster Flash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Phantom Troupe! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flash looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Flash looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Troupe looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Flash shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Troupe sprawls well. Troupe wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Flash gets slowly back to his feet. Flash slips under a jab from Troupe. No luck for Flash with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grandmaster Flash. That's going to take a lot out of him. Flash slaps away a takedown attempt from Troupe, before circling back to the center of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Flash fails with an attempt to clinch.
Flash staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Flash with that takedown attempt. Troupe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Flash manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The fight moves into the clinch position. Flash escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A looping hook to the body misses from Troupe. Flash does a little dance to reset his feet. Troupe gets the takedown into side control. Flash parries the strikes from Troupe easily there. Troupe is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Flash to escape.
Troupe trying to control the position but Flash is working away. Flash taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Troupe is working to tighten his grip on Flash's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Flash has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Troupe is really squeezing tight and eventually Flash passes out! Troupe breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Phantom Troupe!
