Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Jason Eckstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandao has chosen The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Eckstein! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Brandao! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brandao walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Eckstein throws a leg kick that misses. Eckstein scores with a kick to the body.
Eckstein seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. A big right from Eckstein misses. Danga de danga de dang - Eckstein scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Marcus Brandao has been cut. Brandao thuds his right hand into Eckstein's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Eckstein wants to clinch up but Brandao keeps it at a distance. Brandao uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Eckstein has time to react. Eckstein misses with an attempted mid kick.
Brandao misses with a straight right. Some wild striking there from Eckstein.
Marcus Brandao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Eckstein fails in his attempt to clinch. Brandao throws out a powerful jab. This has been an exciting period of action! Brandao sizes up Eckstein with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Eckstein swinging wildly here.
Brandao lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Eckstein lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Brandao tries to bum rush Eckstein with a series of wild strikes but Eckstein uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brandao chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Eckstein can pounce on him.
Eckstein scores with a head kick. Brandao tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Brandao has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Eckstein fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Brandao has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Brandao throws a leg kick that is checked and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Eckstein throws a looping overhand right but Brandao ducks down to avoid it. Brandao stalks Eckstein and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Eckstein's face. Eckstein staggers backwards, shaken. Eckstein ducks under a wild hook from Brandao. Brandao keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Brandao lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Eckstein misses with a lunging right hand
and Brandao counters with a nice low kick that buckles Eckstein's knee momentarily. Eckstein fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Brandao is out of range. Brandao takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Brandao throws the left hand but Eckstein avoids the punch easily. Brandao throws a lazy right hand but Eckstein sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Eckstein lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Eckstein swinging wildly here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brandao moves out of range of the strikes. Brandao dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Eckstein. That did some damage! A jab from Brandao misses. An inside leg kick from Eckstein misses. Eckstein throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Eckstein throws a shot from downtown. Brandao moves away and avoids it. Eckstein takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Brandao connects with a crisp jab. Brandao on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Eckstein blocks the body kick.
Eckstein throws a low kick but Brandao avoids it. Eckstein takes a body punch but keeps moving. Brandao lands a head shot. Brandao bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Eckstein is looking to clinch but Brandao is avoiding it.
Eckstein thumps Brandao with a low kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eckstein connects with a body shot. Brandao throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Eckstein moves out of range as Brandao strikes. Brandao throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Brandao throws a body punch but Eckstein moves out of range. Brandao lands a head kick that bluckles Eckstein and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Brandao no doubt looking to push for a finish!
Eckstein is rocked! Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Brandao! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Marcus Brandao! Marcus Brandao is the new light heavyweight champion! In his post fight interview, Marcus Brandao started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
