4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Floris Maljers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roberto Piras! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Piras is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Maljers ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Piras uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Maljers. Maljers fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Piras avoids a kick to the body.
A left and a right from Piras both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Floris Maljers has been cut. Piras ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maljers moves away. Maljers throws a chopping leg kick but Piras manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Maljers does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Roberto Piras seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Maljers avoids a punch combination nicely.
Maljers throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Piras lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maljers circles away quickly and effectively. Piras has Maljers up against the cage in a clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Maljers advances to half guard. Piras is trying to get back to full guard. Maljers wants to free his trapped foot but Piras is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Piras looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maljers is one step ahead there. Maljers advances position into side control! Piras is trying to get back to half guard. Maljers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Piras keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Piras is sneaking out the side here. Piras has hold of Maljers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maljers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Roberto Piras dominated that round. The cut man is working on Floris Maljers's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Maljers is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Piras. Piras wants to clinch up but Maljers keeps it at a distance. Piras has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Maljers takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Maljers scores with the left hand. Piras knows he should have avoided that one. Piras wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Roberto Piras is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Maljers swinging wildly here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maljers keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Piras punishes Maljers's body with a nice straight punch. Piras rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maljers moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Piras lands with a right hand. Piras throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Maljers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Piras has a closed guard, preventing Maljers from standing up. Piras has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maljers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Piras fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Piras takes one to the chin there. Maljers pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Maljers takes a swing at Piras's ribcage but misses. A punch lands to the side of Piras 's head but he takes it in his stride. Maljers slips a jab and a cross from Piras.

Maljers works his way back into a safe position though. Piras has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Maljers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Maljers trying to control but Piras is working from the bottom. Maljers won't allow Piras to sweep him here. Piras manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maljers manages to get himself to full guard.
Piras drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Piras jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Maljers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Maljers striking off his back but it's not causing Piras any problems.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Maljers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Piras is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Roberto Piras has got the better of the ground game so far. Piras preventing the sweep. Maljers wants to improve his position but instead Piras has moved into half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Piras prevents Maljers from improving his position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Roberto Piras. I've got Piras winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
