Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Saracen Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sahak Torosian!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into Torosian's guard.
Smith is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Smith loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Torosian dives on top into guard.

Smith wants to sweep here but Torosian controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Torosian trying to stand up but can't free himself from Smith's guard.

Torosian won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Torosian defends it easily.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Smith has his foot on Torosian's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Torosian works his way back into a safe position though.

Smith has his feet on Torosian's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Torosian leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Torosian.

Smith gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Torosian regains guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Torosian looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Smith throws a big right hand that misses.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Smith is looking to advance position but Torosian has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Smith is trying to stand up.
Smith is looking to get to half guard.
Smith is working hard here to advance position.

Smith manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Smith is staying active underneath Torosian, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Torosian tries to stand and escape but Smith is controlling the position.
Torosian stalling away here and it's allowed Smith to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Smith lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Smith passes into half guard.

Smith is working for a kimura but Torosian is defending it quite comfortably.

Smith shoots for a takedown but Torosian saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Torosian throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.
Torosian misses with a body shot.
Torosian defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith.
Torosian stuffs the takedown.

Torosian throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.
Smith gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Torosian.
Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Torosian avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Smith wants the takedown. Torosian is fighting it off but Smith persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Torosian's guard against the cage.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Smith wants to pass the guard but Torosian is keeping the position.
Torosian keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Torosian is retaining full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Smith wants to clinch.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Smith dives in for a single leg takedown but Torosian sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Smith has Torosian pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Torosian manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Smith scores with a shot to the side of Torosian's head.

Smith content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Smith lands a takedown into guard.
Smith trying to control but Torosian is working from the bottom.
Smith throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Torosian looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.

Smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Torosian dives on top into guard.

Torosian wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Torosian is fighting to break Smith's control of his arms but Smith is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Torosian has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
Torosian won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Torosian wants to stand but Smith is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nice takedown defense from Torosian. No joy for Smith on that attempt.

That was a close second round but I would say that Saracen Smith will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Torosian slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Saracen Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A combination from Torosian does no damage.
Smith dives in and grabs Torosian's left leg, looking for a takedown. Torosian pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.

Torosian misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Torosian.
Torosian throws a left and a right that both miss

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith.
Torosian is trying to break the clinch but Smith is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Torosian is in trouble now - Smith has advanced to mount!

Smith with a couple of short strikes.

Torosian is in all sorts of trouble here.

Torosian really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Torosian is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torosian is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Smith tries to control but Torosian wriggling away.

Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Torosian can do to turn this around?

Smith jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Torosian manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Saracen Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Torosian is looking for a sweep.
Smith in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Torosian is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Smith lands a nice forearm strike.
Smith scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Torosian to see if he's OK.
Sahak Torosian has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Smith tries for a kimura but Torosian is defending well.
Torosian is letting Smith control him for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Saracen Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
