PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leopoldo Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Keyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Leopoldo Hewitt has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Leopoldo Hewitt seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Keyes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Hewitt for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Keyes tries to stall but Hewitt uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keyes is looking to break free of the clinch but Hewitt has double underhooks.
Hewitt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hewitt changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Keyes fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Hewitt has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Keyes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hewitt holds on and takes a little breather.

Keyes gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Keyes drives through and clinches with Hewitt against the cage.
Keyes tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hewitt avoids it.
Keyes has had enough of the clinch but Hewitt keeps him there for the moment.
Keyes is trying to push Hewitt away but Hewitt has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Keyes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Keyes manages to end up in side control.
Hewitt is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Keyes is controlling him well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Keyes swings around for an armbar but Hewitt sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Keyes's guard.
Hewitt postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hewitt is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hewitt with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hewitt is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hewitt wanted to stand there but Keyes had control of the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Keyes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hewitt controls the pace.

Keyes has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hewitt is trying to keep an underhook but Keyes manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Hewitt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Hewitt fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Keyes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Keyes putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Hewitt in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Hewitt has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Keyes after a bit of a struggle.
Keyes lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hewitt backwards.

Keyes is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Hewitt is defending well for now.

It looks like Leopoldo Hewitt has been cut.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Keyes tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Hewitt tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Keyes just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leopoldo Hewitt. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A frustrated look appears on Keyes's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Keyes has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Hewitt - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Keyes, and another! Hewitt is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
