Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hermann Edelgard! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edelgard clinches. Edelgard wants to get back to striking at distance but Lee won't allow it.
Edelgard changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lee fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Edelgard misses the shot to the body. Nice straight punches there by Lee. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lee. Edelgard moves in looking to clinch but Lee pushes him off. Edelgard is looking to clinch. Edelgard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lee's guard. Edelgard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Edelgard trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom. Lee wriggles free and stands up. A punch lands to the side of Edelgard 's head but he takes it in his stride.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edelgard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lee paws at him with a jab and circles away. Edelgard gets a takedown into half guard. Edelgard is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lee is just riding it out for now. Edelgard eventually gives up the hold. Edelgard not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Lee wants to get back to his feet. Edelgard looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lee wants to get back to full guard but Edelgard has passed into side control. A nice elbow there by Edelgard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Edelgard throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Lee wants to hold on but Edelgard pushes him away. Edelgard wants to take his opponent's back but Lee doesn't allow it. Edelgard trying to control but he's not successful this time. Edelgard moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lee has worked his arm free - good work by Lee!
Lee wants to get back to his feet but Edelgard drags him back down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lee is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Edelgard swings around for an armbar but Lee sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Edelgard's guard. Lee preventing the sweep. Lee is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Edelgard has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lee is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Edelgard. Lee controls the position from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Lee dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Lee misses the jab. Lee scores with a jab to the jaw. Edelgard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center. Edelgard throws a body kick that misses. Edelgard takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Edelgard tries to clinch up but Lee circles away and keeps his distance. Lee scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Edelgard throws a looping overhand right but Lee ducks down to avoid it. Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Edelgard manages to avoid it. Edelgard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lee paws at him with a jab and circles away. Lee checks a leg kick nicely. Edelgard tries a head kick but it misses.
Lee fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edelgard has a takedown stuffed. Nice takedown defense from Lee. No joy for Edelgard on that attempt. Edelgard takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Lee keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Edelgard is breathing heavily. Edelgard walks into a left hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Lee cracks Edelgard with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Edelgard needs to keep his hands up - Lee had a free shot at his head there. Lee drops Edelgard with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Edelgard! Lee dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (strikes). Robert Lee!
