Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Taylor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tank Abbot! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbot stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Abbot wants it to stay on the feet. A head kick misses from Taylor. Taylor fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Taylor shoots in but Abbot avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Taylor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Taylor throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A head kick misses from Abbot. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Taylor. Abbot throws a body shot but no joy. Taylor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Abbot sprawls well. Abbot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Taylor gets slowly back to his feet. Abbot leaves Taylor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Abbot throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Jason Taylor has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Abbot.
Abbot is looking to slow Taylor down with leg kicks. Abbot lands with a kick to the ribs.
Taylor tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Abbot defends well and Taylor ends up having to push Abbot into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Abbot breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Taylor fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Abbot misses with a body kick. Abbot throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Abbot knocks Taylor to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?
Taylor is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The referee asks Abbot politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Abbot prefers to stall for the moment though. Oh Taylor is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Taylor tries to get back to half guard but can't. Taylor is trying to escape the position but Abbot is controlling the position. Taylor is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Taylor seems to have got his legs back now. Taylor tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Abbot presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Abbot blocks Taylor's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Taylor is looking to improve his position but Abbot isn't that keen on the idea. Abbot tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Abbot is continuing to stall. Taylor is working to get back to half guard.
Abbot looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Taylor is looking to improve his position but Abbot isn't that keen on the idea. Abbot looking to control and managing it successfully. Abbot looking to control but Taylor is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abbot controlling the position easily from mount. Taylor wants to control but Abbot is having none of it. Taylor is trying desperately to improve position. Taylor is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Taylor is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Taylor tries to hold on but Abbot postures up. Taylor's jab looks to have found its range, popping Abbot under the eye. Taylor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Abbot is fending him off so far but Taylor persists. Nope, Abbot circles away and we're back to standing. Taylor tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Abbot defends well and Taylor ends up having to push Abbot into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Abbot breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Taylor rushes Abbot and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Abbot breaks the clinch.
Abbot cracks Taylor with an open hand slap. Abbot has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Abbot throws a nice inside leg kick. Abbot misses with an attempted mid kick.
A head kick misses from Abbot. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Taylor throws out a leg kick but Abbot moves out of range and Taylor only half commits. Abbot lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Taylor throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Abbot tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Taylor is in Abbot's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Taylor trying to control the position from guard on top but Abbot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Taylor works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abbot is looking to control Taylor's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Abbot avoid being mounted? Taylor prevents Abbot from standing back up.
Taylor is trying to control the action in half guard but Abbot is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Taylor working over Abbot with some ground and pound. Abbot looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Tank Abbot has got the better of the ground game so far. Taylor is keen to just control but Abbot is a slippery customer. Taylor is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Abbot really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Taylor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Taylor is trying to control the action in half guard but Abbot is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Abbot is pressing down on Taylor's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Taylor trying to control the position from guard on top but Abbot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Taylor is looking to work some ground and pound but Abbot has wrist control. Taylor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Abbot has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Taylor is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Abbot's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Tank Abbot seems to be getting the better of the standup. Taylor shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Abbot defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Taylor. That's going to take a lot out of him. Taylor shoots in and drives through. Abbot sprawls well. Abbot turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Tank Abbot is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Taylor shoots in for a double leg but Abbot sprawls well. Abbot stuffs the takedown. Taylor tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Abbot swivels and escapes. Taylor darts in looking for a takedown but Abbot gets double underhooks and turns Taylor into the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Abbot breaks from the clinch.
Abbot thumps Taylor with a low kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Taylor. Abbot tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Taylor tries to clinch but Abbot moves out of range. Taylor tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Abbot paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Abbot pushes Taylor away with a front kick. Abbot slaps away a takedown attempt from Taylor, before circling back to the center of the mat. Abbot gets caught flat footed, as Taylor shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Abbot looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Abbot is adopting a defensive guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Abbot can do anything to dispel that myth. Abbot utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Taylor trying to control but Abbot is working from the bottom. Abbot is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Taylor is controlling him. Abbot avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tank Abbot showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jason Taylor's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

A head kick lands from Abbot that sends Taylor to the canvas. Taylor tries to scramble back to his feet but Abbot brings him back down into side control. Abbot moves into full mount! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Taylor tries to hold on but Abbot postures up. Taylor is squirming around, avoiding Abbot's attempts to control the action. A big strike lands for Abbot! That's really hurt Taylor and he's turned his back - Abbot keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Abbot jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
