Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Canelo Jhonson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DAN SIMOES!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jhonson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A head kick from SIMOES lands but Jhonson takes it in his stride.
It looks like Canelo Jhonson has been cut.
SIMOES shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jhonson pinned against the cage. Jhonson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jhonson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jhonson escapes and gets back to his feet.
Jhonson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

SIMOES shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Jhonson counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

SIMOES looks to move to half guard but instead Jhonson has passed into mount! Damn!
SIMOES really wants to buck Jhonson off and get back to his feet.
SIMOES really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jhonson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

SIMOES is desperately trying to improve his position but Jhonson has a good base and remains in mount.

SIMOES is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jhonson has SIMOES pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. SIMOES manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

SIMOES is trying to drag Jhonson to the mat but Jhonson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

SIMOES has his foot on Jhonson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jhonson works his way back into a safe position though.

Jhonson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jhonson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

SIMOES throws a big right hand that misses.

SIMOES trying to control the position from guard on top but Jhonson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jhonson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jhonson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… SIMOES is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by SIMOES and Jhonson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

SIMOES is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Jhonson is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

SIMOES closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

SIMOES drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jhonson pulls his leg out and moves away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
SIMOES wants to control from the top but Jhonson keeps moving.
SIMOES sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jhonson's guard.

SIMOES is looking to improve his position but Jhonson isn't that keen on the idea.

SIMOES tries to get to full guard but Jhonson has control of the leg.
Jhonson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jhonson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can SIMOES defend it? Jhonson steps over the head and cranks it - SIMOES is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Jhonson!
