Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Rice!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis looks to land a combination but Rice avoids it well.
Rice swings for the body but Pettis moves out of range.
Pettis throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Rice's head.
Pettis shoots for a takedown but Rice saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rice throws a head kick that Pettis semi-blocks.
A left and a right from Pettis both land. Nice combination.
Pettis stalks Rice and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rice's face. Rice staggers backwards, shaken.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rice bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
A slapping leg kick lands for Rice.
A head kick by Rice misses
and Pettis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rice throws a sloppy head kick and Pettis moves out of range easily.
Pettis throws a body shot but no joy.

Pettis gets a double leg takedown into Rice's guard.
Rice looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pettis is one step ahead there.
Rice pulls Pettis in close to prevent any damage.
Rice not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pettis pushing down on Rice's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Rice tries to kick Pettis off but Pettis keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Pettis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Pettis is trying to control the action in half guard but Rice is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Rice is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Rice is trying to escape the mount.
Pettis lands a couple of good shots and Rice has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Pettis misses with punches from the back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pettis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pettis thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Rice tries to break free.
Pettis punches the canvas rather than the man.
Rice covers up after that shot from Pettis.
Rice trying to control the hands but Pettis won't let him.
Rice avoids the strikes from Pettis.
Rice trying to control the position but Pettis manages to sink in the hooks.
Even with his hooks in, Pettis manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Pettis thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Rice prevents Pettis from getting a body triangle.
Rice is trying to stand back up.
Rice is in bad spot here.
Pettis is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Rice. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Rice wants to escape the position.
Pettis is punishing Rice with strikes - can he finish him?!
Rice prevents Pettis from getting a body triangle.
Rice covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Rice just trying to survive but Pettis is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Pettis dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pettis throws a series of punches but Rice moves out of range.
Pettis lands a right hook to the body.
Ryan Pettis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rice looks to score with a jab to the body but Pettis is just out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rice. Pettis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pettis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rice backs up against the cage.
Rice tries to clinch up.
Rice moves to clinch but Pettis breaks away
and Pettis counters with a one-two to the body.
Ryan Pettis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pettis misses with a wild combination.
Rice lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Pettis at a distance.
Pettis throws a body punch but Rice moves out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Rice counters with a head kick that drops Pettis to the mat! Pettis scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Pettis is rocked!
Rice takes a swing at Pettis's ribcage but misses.
Oh Pettis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pettis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Pettis seems to have got his legs back now.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rice looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rice throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Pettis crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ray Rice!
Ray Rice was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
